Two famous runners of the Vietnamese marathon village and the national athletics team won their specialty marathon-42km event at the Quang Nam Marathon 2024.
The 2024 Quang Nam Marathon officially took place on the morning of June 2 in Tam Ky City (Quang Nam). The marathon - 42km for men and women in this tournament attracted many famous faces in the domestic athletics community, creating enthusiastic cheers from the audience in Quang Nam.
On the marathon – 42km men, Hoang Nguyen Thanh continued to affirm his number 1 position in Vietnam when he finished first with a result of 2 hours 45 minutes 06 seconds. Nguyen Thanh faced fierce competition from his close pursuers Mai Qui Phong and Ha Quang Thang, however, this national athlete still had the composure to be the leader and finish first in this year's tournament.
In the women's marathon - 42km, Le Thi Tuyet did not encounter any obstacles and finished first with a result of 3 hours 05 minutes 41 seconds. The second place in this event was athlete Nong Thi Chang with a result of 3 hours 17 minutes 25 seconds. Meanwhile, former national athlete in the women's walking event, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc, continued to participate in the marathon and finished third with a result of 3 hours 30 minutes 59 seconds.
Competing in the 21km men's race at the Quang Nam Marathon 2024, runner Vo Xuan Vinh won with a time of 1 hour 22 minutes 39 seconds. For the 21km women's race, the champion was athlete Le Thi Lam with a time of 1 hour 29 minutes 44 seconds. In addition, the organizing committee also recognized the champions in the 10km men's and women's events and the 5km men's and women's events this time.
This year, the Quang Nam Marathon 2024 attracted 3,000 participants to compete in four familiar distances including 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km. In addition, the tournament also organized a running event for children (from 5 to 10 years old) with a distance of 1.2km.
