Chevening Scholarships are now open for applications in Vietnam.

Applications for the 2026-2027 Chevening Scholarships will be accepted from 5 August 2025 until 12:00 GMT 7 October 2025.

This is a prestigious full scholarship program of the British Government for Master's degree in the UK, regardless of field of study or school.

A Chevening Scholarship covers full tuition fees for a one-year Masters at any UK university, along with monthly living expenses, return airfare, arrival and departure allowances, visa costs and travel costs to Chevening events in the UK.

To be eligible to apply for the Chevening Scholarship 2026-2027, candidates must be Vietnamese citizens, have graduated from university with good results equivalent to a 2:1 UK bachelor's degree (equivalent to a good degree in Vietnam), have at least 2 years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 working hours), and commit to returning to Vietnam to work for at least 2 years after completing the course.

According to the announcement of the British Embassy, the regulations on application documents have changed a lot compared to previous years.

Firstly , work experience is only counted after university graduation, experience during study time will not be counted.

Second, while the essay topics remain the same, the questions have been updated and will include sub-questions. The word limit for each question will be 300 words, instead of 500 words as before.

Third , candidates must link their course choice to one of the following areas: Promoting growth and prosperity; Building resilience in the context of climate change; Enhancing security and stability; Supporting inclusive and effective development for society.

Fourth, if applying from an ODA recipient country, the applicant must reside in that country. This country does not necessarily have to be the applicant's country of nationality.

Chevening currently offers around 1,500 scholarships worldwide each year, providing opportunities for future leaders to develop professionally, expand their networks and experience British culture.

However, this is also one of the scholarships with the highest competition rate on the planet - only about 2%. In 2025 alone, Chevening received 102,274 applications - corresponding to only about 1.5% of successful candidates.

Interested candidates can visit the official website www.chevening.org/vietnam for detailed instructions on the application process and prepare documents according to the new requirements.
