Thanh Nha returns, Vietnam women's team becomes more attractive

In Group A, in addition to Cambodia, the Vietnamese women's team also has to face other opponents, Indonesia and Thailand. Therefore, before entering two difficult matches, the task of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team is not only to win all 3 points against Cambodia, but also to make the most of the opportunity to score many goals, accumulate goal difference. A big win will help Vietnam reduce pressure in the following matches, at the same time strengthen the mentality and create momentum for the whole team.

In terms of strength, the Vietnamese women's team has an experienced squad. The attack line has the presence of key players such as Pham Hai Yen and Huynh Nhu. This time, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha has also returned, promising to help the Vietnamese women's team's attacks be more fast. The advantage of playing at Lach Tray Stadium, considered the "hotbed" of Vietnamese football, is also an important factor helping Huynh Nhu and her teammates gain more confidence.

Before the opening match, coach Mai Duc Chung was cautious about his opponents: "VN respects all the teams in Group A. We have watched the matches and studied Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia. They have made very positive changes recently. Therefore, I think the Vietnamese players need to try their best against each opponent". Huynh Nhu, the leading striker of the women's team, said: "With the opportunity to play at home, besides the advantage, I think this is also a pressure for the Vietnamese women's team. But my teammates and I will turn that pressure into motivation. In 2003, the Vietnamese women's team won the championship at Lach Tray, so I will use that as motivation to make history again".

On the other side of the front line, Japanese coach Gyotoku Koji has only been in charge of the Cambodian women's team for 10 days. Mr. Koji commented: "This is definitely a difficult tournament for the Cambodian team. Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia are all strong opponents, so we will try to find 3 points in this tournament. In football, the goal in each match is of course to win. However, the opening match will be very difficult when Cambodia meets Vietnam. I cannot make a prediction, but Cambodia will show the best performance."

The remaining match in Group A of the 2025 AFF Women's Cup will also take place at Lach Tray Stadium at 4:30 p.m., between the Thai and Indonesian women's teams.
