On the afternoon of March 27, the Departmentof Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province provided information to the press about Dang Tran Con High School (Hue city) requiring students to work if they do not participate in a paid camp at a tourist area.
Previously, Dang Tran Con High School issued a document on hygiene education at the school. According to this document, hygiene education activities were organized by Dang Tran Con High School on March 28 and the morning of March 29.

The participants in the cleaning work at the school are all teachers and students who did not participate in the camping festival at Ve Nguon Eco-tourism Area (Huong Ho ward, Hue city) held on March 28 and 29 and did not participate in the Phu Dong sports festival or national defense sports festival.
The job of the teachers and students who are assigned to do sanitation work is to scrape off the moss on the fence around Dang Tran Con High School and use brooms to sweep away the moss. For areas that have not been cleaned, students will have to make up for it another day.
The school requires homeroom teachers to announce work assignments and remind students to go to work on time and work actively.
According to the report of Dang Tran Con High School, on the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024), the school has developed a plan to organize educational activities in two forms: a picnic combined with the "Fueling Tradition - Firm Steps for the Future" Camp at the Ve Nguon Eco-Tourism Area on March 28-29 and organizing experiential activities on the theme of March combined with school cleaning work at school for students who do not participate in the camp at the same time.
The school's point of view is to create fairness, students who do not participate in the camp will be able to participate in general educational activities at school.
It is known that the camping activity organized by Dang Tran Con High School has a total of 920 students registered to participate. Each participating student must pay 350,000 VND, including 180,000 VND for entrance fee and 170,000 VND for food.
Students who are eligible for preferential treatment are exempted by the school and students with difficulties but are not eligible for preferential treatment, if they notify the school, the school will intervene so that they do not have to pay the entrance fee, only the meal fee.
The whole school had about more than 100 students who did not register to attend the camp.
The leader of the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province said that after reviewing the report and working with the school leaders on the afternoon of March 27, he found that the school's plan was unscientific, not suitable for the goals of educational activities, and could easily give rise to sensitive thoughts in students and parents.
The Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province has requested the school to adjust its plan appropriately, ensuring the organization of general educational activities of the school; at the same time, criticized and requested the school's Principal to seriously learn from experience in management, development and implementation of educational plans.
The Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province reminded and directed all educational institutions in the province to draw common lessons.
According to Dan Tri reporters, recently, many schools in Thua Thien Hue have chosen to bring students to Ve Nguon Eco-tourism Area to organize tours, camps, and experiential education.
Many parents cannot help but wonder why the school has to choose to organize these activities at a tourist area with a rather high entrance fee, while in the area there is no shortage of historical and cultural sites that are more suitable for educational purposes.
