This year's competition attracted the participation of 822 works from more than 50 countries and territories around the world.
iCAN is the world's leading prestigious annual competition organized by the Toronto International Society for Innovation and Advanced Skills - Canada (TISIAS), for young inventors and scientists around the world.
This year, the competition attracted 822 entries, of which 326 topics were selected for the final round.
This year's Vietnamese student delegation has 14 award-winning works in different categories, typically students from the following school groups: Ngo Si Lien Secondary School - Chu Van An Secondary School - Nhan Chinh High School ( Hanoi ); Brooke House College High School - Quang Trung High School - Le Quy Don School (Hanoi); Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School - Nguyen Van To Secondary School - Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory High School - Vietnam-Australia International School (Ho Chi Minh City); Phan Huy Chu High School - Nguyen Hue Specialized School - Hanoi - Amsterdam Specialized High School (Hanoi); Van Ho Secondary School - Luong The Vinh Secondary School - Phenikaa School (Hanoi); Lao Cai High School No. 3 (Lao Cai).

In particular , a group of students from Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, Chu Van An Secondary School and Nhan Chinh High School - Hanoi won a double with the project "Product classification model using a Robotic arm applying image processing". The project won a Gold Medal and entered the final round, winning 2 Special Awards, including 1 International Special Award presented by the Organizing Committee and 1 Best Video Report Award. This is the only group in the competition field to achieve this impressive achievement.

Sharing about the project, Nguyen Hung Minh - a student of class 7A4 at Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, a member of the group, said "this model helps us understand more about automation and modern equipment. I hope that in the future Vietnam can research and manufacture more high-tech products on its own, helping Vietnam not to depend on foreign technology."
iCAN 2024 will be held online, with rounds of intellectual property registration assessment, topic and poster evaluation, presentations before international judges and live Q&A in English recorded by video.
The jury will evaluate the inventions based on the project intellectual property registration granted by the Intellectual Property Office of the participating countries and detailed research reports in the form of videos, posters sent to the international organizing committee and live presentations by the inventors during the online competition.
The success of Vietnamese students at the international competition is a clear demonstration of the creative potential of the country's young generation. This result not only affirms Vietnam's position on the world technology map but also serves as a great inspiration for young people with a passion for science and creativity.
