Choosing a major is important, but choosing the right learning environment is even more important.

In the field of Information Technology in Vietnam, there are currently two popular learning styles that students can choose from, depending on their personal orientation and goals.

The first type of study is academic, suitable for those who love research, want to learn deeply about fundamental theories and have plans to study higher in the future such as master's and doctorate. Training institutions such as University of Science and Technology, University of Technology - VNU are typical choices for this group.

On the contrary, the second type of learning is practical, for students who want to shorten their study time, approach the real working environment early, love learning through projects and updating new technology. A typical representative of this learning direction is the Aptech International Programmer Training System - which pursues the philosophy of "Learn fast - Work early - Secure future." Tran Ngoc Hoang Pich is an excellent student, once got good grades and could have entered university. But after careful research, Pich realized that what he needed was a practical learning environment, which could shorten his study time and start working early. Pich shared: "Aptech helped me learn practically from the beginning. Without having to wait 4 years, I started working in my second year and am now working as a programmer for AMIT software company."

Study IT - don't choose a school based on emotions, choose according to career orientation

When choosing a study path in the Information Technology industry, students need to carefully consider between two orientations: academic and practical, because each direction will lead to a completely different career development path.

For those who are academically oriented – usually have good analytical thinking, like to do in-depth research, persevere with abstract concepts and have the goal of pursuing fields such as data science , AI, embedded systems – university is the right path. This path usually lasts from 4 to 5 years, focusing on fundamental knowledge and in-depth theory. After graduation, many students continue to graduate school, participate in research projects or work at large institutes and technology centers. This is a journey that requires long-term investment and a clear academic orientation.

Meanwhile, for students who tend to practice, love new technology, like to try - fail - fix on real products, and want to work early, choosing to study in the direction of practical training brings a more flexible and realistic career path. At training systems such as Aptech, students can start working on real projects after only the first semester, with specific products that can be presented to employers or used as internship applications. From the second year, many students have started participating in freelance projects, working as technology collaborators or officially working at businesses, accumulating experience and income right during the learning process. The learning path is compact in 2 - 2.5 years, helping to shorten the time to enter the profession and soon create a solid foundation for career development.

Choosing the wrong path from the start – for example, going to university when you are not suited to a theoretical learning style, or vice versa – can take a long time to adjust, or even force you to start over. Therefore, choosing an IT school should not be based solely on reputation or emotional advice, but should come from a clear understanding of your career goals, personal characteristics, and how you learn best. Choosing the right path from the start will make your career path shorter, clearer, and more stable.
