After 3 days of organization with many exciting and effective events, I am very pleased to join the leaders and delegates in attending the closing ceremony of the 2024 National Press Festival - one of the most anticipated events for journalists and the press public nationwide in 2024 - the year we celebrate the 99th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press.
On behalf of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, I warmly congratulate and commend the Vietnam Journalists Association for closely coordinating with the Central Propaganda Department; Ministry of Information and Communications; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to successfully organize the 2024 National Press Festival.

The theme of the 2024 National Press Festival is "Vietnamese Press - Pioneer, Innovation for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People". Pioneer in information, propaganda, and orientation of public opinion on important political , socio-economic, defense, security, foreign affairs tasks of the country. Innovation in leadership and direction methods, management thinking, information content, production and publishing processes, production and business, and diversification of revenue sources so that the press can maintain and master, and be the main and important information stream on the information and communication front, especially in cyberspace. These tasks are all aimed at the noble goal of "For the revolutionary cause of the Party and the People".

The 2024 National Press Festival, held for the first time in the South, gathered hundreds of central and local press agencies, all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 63 provinces and cities, thousands of journalists nationwide and tens of thousands of press audiences.
I, along with a number of leaders of the Party, State, central departments, ministries and branches, directly visited and participated in activities at the exhibition space of press agencies one afternoon. Although the weather was quite hot, we were very excited to feel that many people, especially many students from universities and international guests, took the time to visit, research and directly participate in the activities of our Press Association.
The Press Festival has truly left a good impression on everyone, highlighting the professionalism, humanity and modernity of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. The message "Vietnamese Press - Pioneer, Innovation for the revolutionary cause of the Party and the People" is clearly demonstrated through practical and attractive events, exhibitions and professional forums, contributing to opening up new knowledge; strengthening the spirit of solidarity between press agencies and local journalist associations, and strengthening the close relationship between the press and the public. The display and introduction of OCOP products of localities at this year's Press Festival has helped businesses enhance their brands, widely promote their products; helping the public of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country have the opportunity to experience and use typical products of many regions across the country - that is also the spirit of the press accompanying businesses in economic and social development. Along with that are special cultural and artistic programs, awarding Spring journalism awards and meaningful sports and arts awards for journalists.
Within the framework of the 2024 Press Festival, for the first time, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a national-scale Press Forum with 10 discussion sessions on press and media topics that were very lively and practical for journalists nationwide. The recommendations and proposals at the Forum are a very important basis for leaders, managers, and associations to study, absorb, and supplement to submit to competent authorities to perfect mechanisms and policies for the press; they are valuable experiences for press agencies to learn from, find solutions, and directions for their press agencies.

2024 is a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and towards the 14th National Party Congress, the year to celebrate many important events of the country; along with that is the completion of amending and supplementing the Press Law and the preliminary review of 5 years of implementing the Government's National Press Development and Management Plan. I hope that press agencies need to focus on promoting the implementation of this year's socio-economic development tasks; closely following the breath of life to reflect, contribute ideas, create and spread good and humane values in society; bring policies and laws into life and meet the expectations of all people.
Press agencies need to continue to promote digital transformation, apply modern technology, pay attention to investing, upgrading equipment and facilities, and regularly innovate and create in producing and broadcasting programs, news and articles.
Press agencies must strengthen the work of building a clean and strong Party; constantly foster and improve the political capacity, educate revolutionary ethics, and professional expertise for journalists; and be more determined to build each press agency into a typical cultural agency. Heads of press agencies and magazines need to enhance their roles and responsibilities within their tasks and powers, especially in implementing legal regulations on the press, especially implementing the principles and objectives; have solutions to strictly manage and create favorable conditions for reporters and editors to operate in accordance with regulations; scientifically and strictly control the activities of representative offices, resident reporters, and collaborators, ensuring that their activities comply with the provisions of the Press Law and related legal documents.
For the Vietnam Journalists Association, we need to promote the emulation movement to build a cultural press agency and a culture of journalists; organize well the activities of the Council for handling violations of the Code of Professional Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists; strengthen monitoring, supervision, inspection, conclusion and handling of violations of professional ethics and the Code of Conduct for Vietnamese Journalists. Associations at all levels from the central to local levels continue to innovate political and ideological education. It is necessary to increase the organization of seminars, training, fostering and training in modern journalism skills, methods of journalism in the digital environment; propagate, disseminate and educate to improve professional ethics and ways of behaving on social networks for members and journalists nationwide.
For each journalist, it is necessary to have a deeper awareness of their role, position, function, task and noble mission in the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press; constantly cultivate and improve their political qualities, professional ethics, professional qualifications, and technological skills; cultivate virtue and train their talents to have “bright eyes, pure hearts, sharp pens” - worthy of being pioneers on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, State and People.
Once again, I warmly congratulate the success of the 2024 National Press Festival. The Press Festival has spread the spirit and power of press innovation to all regions, from border to island, from urban to rural areas, in line with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneer, Innovation for the revolutionary cause of the Party and People"; creating new creative motivation for the team of journalists nationwide.
I wish all leaders, delegates and journalists nationwide good health, happiness and success.
