Advisory Council for selection to perform city-level science and technology tasks: Nem An Tho

On the afternoon of October 3, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Hai Phong city held a meeting of the Advisory Council for selection to carry out the city-level S&T task of "Supporting the management, exploitation and development of the collective brand "Nem An Tho" for the fruit spring rolls of An Tho commune, An Lao district, Hai Phong city". Comrade Pham Huy Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology chaired the Conference.

The conference was attended by members of the Advisory Council, representatives of the Department's professional departments and two units with registration documents to participate in the selection, including: MasterBrand Company Limited and Hai Phong Center for Innovation and Application of Science and Technology.

At the Conference, representatives of the two units presented the content and plan to implement the tasks. In particular, MasterBrand Company Limited focused on analyzing the current status of production and consumption of "Nem An Tho" products; management, exploitation and development of the collective brand (NHTT) "Nem An Tho"; proposed a model for management, exploitation and development of the brand; a plan to raise awareness and management capacity for production households; and a plan to summarize and accept the tasks.

Hai Phong Center for Innovation and Application of Science and Technology presented a plan for conducting a field survey at production households; assessing the consumption market and the current status of brand management and exploitation; a plan for building and operating a brand management model; solutions to improve capacity for participants in the model, develop the market for products with brand management, along with an implementation roadmap and a plan to summarize and accept the tasks.

Representative of Hai Phong Center for Innovation and Application of Science and Technology explained the task.

The Council members highly appreciated the practical significance and feasibility of the task, affirming that the implementation of research, building a management model and developing NHTT will make an important contribution to enhancing the value of local specialty products.

Based on the discussion, the Council unanimously selected the Hai Phong Center for Innovation and Application of Science and Technology as the unit to carry out the task. The Council also requested the presiding units to supplement and edit some contents of the explanatory notes such as: completing the task name appropriately; updating the number and scale of production households; clarifying the objectives and operation plan of the model; supplementing the dossier on food safety, regulations and standards related to intellectual property, as well as documents for extending the NHTT.

Concluding the Conference, Comrade Pham Huy Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, requested the selected unit to seriously absorb and complete the explanatory documents according to the Council's comments, and soon complete them so that the Department can synthesize and submit them to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval./.
