On the afternoon of November 29, in Ha Giang city, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinated with the United Nations Population Fund in Vietnam to organize a workshop on reproductive health and sexual health care policies for young people in 2024. Attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union; representatives of the United Nations Population Fund in Vietnam; representatives of a number of central specialized agencies and representatives of Youth Union officials from the northern provinces.

Speaking at the workshop, comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam said: In recent years, the programs and activities of the Youth Union have been implemented synchronously, extensively and effectively, attracting a large number of union members and young people to participate. However, besides the advantages, Vietnamese youth also face many challenges, including challenges related to reproductive health and sexual health due to lack of understanding, knowledge and necessary skills; access to and use of reproductive health care services is not much; the situation of young people having unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions and sexually transmitted diseases tends to increase. Therefore, this workshop is an opportunity for the parties to exchange, discuss and propose policies to improve the quality of health care, especially sexual and reproductive health for young people. Thereby, contributing to building a healthy and comprehensively developed young generation, thereby contributing to the good implementation of the Youth Law and the Youth Development Strategy for the period 2021 - 2030.

At the workshop, delegates heard representatives of the Ministry of Health share about the situation of providing reproductive health care services , sexual health for young people; communication work to improve health for young people to successfully implement Goal 4 of the National Strategy on Youth Development 2021-2030. In addition, delegates spent a lot of time discussing to clarify the content of why it is necessary to mobilize the participation of young people in building, implementing, monitoring and responding to the implementation of the Youth Law, the National Strategy on Youth Development in Vietnam for the period 2021-2030 and policies to support young people, especially vulnerable young people.
