2023 Hung Yen Province Amateur Cheo Singing Contest

Pursuant to Plan No. 90/KH-SVHTTDL dated September 15, 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organizes the 2023 Hung Yen Province Amateur Cheo Singing Contest.

From November 14-15, at Hung Yen Cheo Theater, Chua Dong Street, Hien Nam Ward, Hung Yen City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the 2023 Hung Yen Province Amateur Cheo Singing Contest. According to the plan, the contestants are Vietnamese citizens with permanent residence and are studying, living and working in the province, not professional actors or singers, have never been trained and worked at professional art units on Cheo art from the provincial level or higher. Each individual is allowed to register one performance with the form of performing ancient Cheo and modern Cheo melodies in the Vietnamese Cheo melodies system.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Mr. Do Huu Nhan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized the purpose and significance of the contest, aiming to affirm the uniqueness of the province's culture and promote the precious traditions and unique characteristics of the Cheo art form. Thereby, preserving and promoting the traditional Cheo art form, one of the typical folk theatrical art forms of the Northern Delta region; this is an opportunity to introduce and promote traditional Cheo art to the masses; creating opportunities for artisans, artists, non-professional actors and the masses to exchange, learn and share experiences about Cheo art. Discover and nurture typical nuclei in the local cultural and artistic movement who are capable and love the art of Cheo singing in order to preserve the heritage in the long term, contributing to enriching the cultural identity of the province, spreading the beauty of traditional art to friends near and far, domestically and internationally.

With a total of 79 entries, the contestants went through 2 rounds including the Preliminary round and the Final round. After 02 days of objective and impartial work by the Jury, the Contest selected the entries that met the criteria for award consideration and awarded the Certificate. On November 15, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 552/QD-SVHTTDL to award the 2023 Hung Yen Province Non-Professional Cheo Singing Contest, the order of awards is as follows:

I. FIRST PRIZE
