Hong Bang District: Children's painting contest based on books and newspapers and launching the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of April 12, at the District Library - Kim Dong Flower Garden, Central Strip of the city, Hong Bang District organized the Hong Bang Children's Painting Contest based on books and newspapers; launched the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest; displayed books in response to the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024. This is an activity towards the Anniversary of major holidays in April and May 2024 and the 69th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024).
The Hong Bang Children's Painting Contest based on books and newspapers in 2024 is an activity for primary and secondary school students in the district. The schools organized a preliminary round and selected 64 students with the best results to participate.
Speaking at the program, Comrade Le Thi Van, Permanent Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, hoped that children would respond and actively participate in the Contest, think and explore together to give meaningful messages to encourage and promote the reading movement among the young generation, forming reading habits and skills for students, one of the important factors contributing to the development of reading culture in schools and communities.
In recent years, Hong Bang district has organized many practical activities with rich and diverse content and forms, creating a useful playground and competition day for children to express their artistic and creative talents. Hong Bang Children's Painting Contest based on books and newspapers; launching the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest; Book exhibition in response to the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024 is an annual activity organized by Hong Bang district for children in the whole district to participate.
The 2024 painting contest with the theme "Hai Phong - Brightening the heritage land" is an opportunity for children to express their understanding of the city's history, historical figures, cultural heritages, natural landscapes written through books, newspapers, through stories they have heard and read, and at the same time demonstrate their own painting talent. Combined with the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador contest to encourage the spirit of reading, searching and discovering books, helping students realize the necessity and importance of libraries in learning and training, the role of reading and working with books and newspapers.
