According to RIA Novosti, the parade marking the 79th anniversary of the victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 9 (Moscow time, about 2:00 p.m. Vietnam time) on Red Square. Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the ceremony and give a speech as every year.

RIA Novosti reported that the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as Cuba, Laos and Guinea-Bissau will attend the parade. In addition, representatives of many other countries will attend. In addition, about 6,800 guests will be invited to attend the parade on Red Square.

According to annual tradition, President Putin will give a special speech 8 minutes before the parade takes place. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense , more than 9,000 soldiers and about 75 units of military equipment and weapons are participating in the preparations for this year's parade. The scale of this year's parade is significantly reduced compared to previous years.

After the Russian President's speech, the parade will begin when the honor guard with the Russian flag and the Victory banner of the 150th Idritskaya Rifle Division enters Red Square.

The parade will be presided over by Russian Defense Minister, General Sergei Shoigu, and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, General Oleg Salyukov.

The Victory Day parade on Red Square is expected to last two hours. After the parade, President Putin and other world leaders will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The military hardware participating in the parade will be smaller in scale than last year, with the participation of Tigr and Typhoon-U armored vehicles, S-400 long-range air defense systems, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems, Yars mobile intercontinental ballistic missile systems and Boomerang armored personnel carriers. This year, the Russian Air Force will be represented by squadrons of Su-27, MiG-29 and Su-25 fighter jets.

Previously, on May 6, Russia launched the "Victory Letter" campaign across Russia in a series of activities to celebrate the victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The social organization “Volunteers of Victory” calls on all Russians to write letters expressing gratitude and sending warm wishes to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, which will be collected by volunteers and delivered to veterans before Victory Day on May 9.

The organization's director, Anastasia Ryabova, said the campaign wanted to create conditions for everyone to directly say thank you to the heroes who defended the Fatherland and promised that all letters, even from abroad, would be delivered to the correct address.
