Associate Professor Pham Manh Hung, director of the National Heart Institute, Bach Mai Hospital, said myocardial infarction is a dangerous disease with a mortality rate of over 70%.
There are many causes of myocardial infarction in young people, in which lifestyle has a great influence such as unscientific and unhealthy living habits that easily form atherosclerotic plaques quickly. Some other causes also increase the risk of disease such as stress, overweight, obesity, smoking.
In addition, patients with high blood pressure , diabetes, a history of stroke or myocardial infarction, or a family history of epilepsy are at higher risk.
To reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, doctors recommend a reasonable diet, limiting the intake of fat, animal skin, liver, fast food. Actively exercise, limit alcohol and stimulants. In particular, young people should not subjectively think that the disease only occurs in the elderly, ignoring the warning signs.
Doctors also emphasize that people with myocardial infarction need to have their blood vessels supplying the heart restored as soon as possible. The golden time is the first 48 hours, especially the first 12 hours. Therefore, when there are signs of suspected acute myocardial infarction, the patient should be taken to the nearest medical facility.
