That is the information that Mr. TA HOANG LINH - Director of the Department of Foreign Market Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) - "revealed" to Tuoi Tre when talking about the event "Vietnam International Sourcing - Diversifying export markets" (Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 - VIS 2025) taking place from September 4 to 6 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

Mr. Linh said this is an activity to support businesses in connecting with distribution systems, importers and global retail chains in a practical, effective and long-term manner.

Many corporations and distribution chains attended.

* Among the more than 300 purchasing delegations, which big brands participated and what were these buyers interested in, sir?

- Many large international corporations, distribution chains and brands have confirmed their participation, including: Uniqlo, Aeon (Japan), H&M, IKEA (Sweden), Walmart, Amazon (USA), Coppel (Mexico), Central Group (Thailand), LuLu Group (UAE)...

This year, many delegations not only came to visit and trade but also opened booths at the exhibition to directly search for and negotiate with partners coming to trade at the exhibition, planning to directly visit factories and production facilities in Vietnam to evaluate the possibility of long-term cooperation as well as seek practical investment opportunities.

It is noteworthy that purchasing delegations do not only look for individual products but also aim to establish strategic supply relationships, seek long-term partners, have the ability to provide stable supply and meet international standards.

Choosing to come to Vietnam on such a large scale shows confidence in production capacity, product quality and potential for long-term cooperation with domestic enterprises.

* Which areas are buyers particularly interested in and does the Ministry of Industry and Trade arrange for domestic manufacturers to connect directly with international buyers?

- The sectors that international buyers are most interested in include: agricultural products, food, beverages, textiles, footwear; wooden furniture and interior and exterior furniture; fast-moving consumer products, packaging and healthcare products.

Products with green elements, sustainable certification, traceability, potential for scale expansion and good delivery capacity will be given special priority.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is continuing to coordinate with localities, trade offices in more than 60 countries around the world , industry associations and domestic enterprises to arrange 1:1 trade connection activities, factory surveys, thematic seminars and surveys in localities, helping purchasing delegations effectively approach Vietnamese enterprises, while creating a premise for signing contracts and promoting long-term cooperation.

Looking for long-term investment connection opportunities

* Deep participation in the global supply chain is increasingly important. So how will this event help businesses realize this goal?

- The event gathered more than 500 booths displaying about 12,000 typical export products, with many new items invested in design, packaging, functionality and environmental friendliness, meeting the strict requirements of demanding markets.

VIS 2025 is also designed according to the "sourcing" model - focusing on the specific purchasing needs of international partners, instead of just displaying products.

From there, B2B connection activities are organized selectively, according to pre-scheduled appointments, helping Vietnamese businesses directly access leading supermarket chains, retailers, and distribution systems from target markets such as the US, EU, Korea, Middle East, South Asia, ASEAN...

In particular, more than 3,000 direct meetings will be arranged between parties with clear cooperation needs, creating favorable conditions for negotiations, signing orders and moving towards long-term cooperation.

In addition, VIS 2025 also expands practical experiences and seeks long-term investment connection opportunities through coordination with local Departments of Industry and Trade to organize field surveys for purchasing enterprises and international industrial corporations.

This is an in-depth activity, built on the specific needs of each foreign partner, bringing them to raw material areas, manufacturing plants, and industrial parks in localities with export strengths.

* What is new about buyers coming to Vietnam this time? What should businesses do to find orders, sir?

- With more than 300 delegations from over 60 countries and territories "landing" in Vietnam through the event, it reflects the increasingly deep interest of the global business community in the production capacity, product quality and cooperation potential of Vietnamese enterprises.

The event also shows the shift trend of international distribution corporations from indirect import through intermediaries to a model of directly seeking suppliers who are Vietnamese manufacturers to shorten the logistics chain, reduce costs and increase initiative.

Therefore, businesses need to note that buyers are not only interested in areas such as textiles, footwear; processed foods and beverages; wooden products, interiors and handicrafts; cosmetics, packaging; health care and household products, but also high value-added products that meet green standards, sustainable production, have international certification and traceability will be prioritized.

Buyers are not only looking for competitively priced products, but also pay special attention to long-term production capacity, supply flexibility, business reliability and transparency throughout the value chain.

Global Supplier Sourcing Destination

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has coordinated with the Vietnamese Trade Office system abroad and international partners to invite more than 300 purchasing delegations from over 60 countries and territories, representing key and potential export markets such as the US, Japan, Korea, China, EU, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, India, South Asia, Africa, Latin America and the ASEAN region.

This year in particular, there has been a significant expansion from emerging regions such as the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait), Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia), and Latin America (Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela), showing that Vietnam is increasingly becoming a prestigious destination in the global supplier search strategy.

Connecting Vietnamese production to the global chain

According to Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, the goal of this program is to create strategic connections between Vietnamese manufacturing industries and global supply chains and production chains in order to meet the needs of international consumers and adapt to the world market situation.

Therefore, the event series not only includes traditional B2B networking activities between businesses to get orders for the next season, but also long-term, strategic networking activities to help Vietnamese businesses gradually improve their competitiveness to maintain and develop their position in the global supply chain.

During the event, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also organized sideline activities such as seminars, business survey tours, 1:1 trade connections, and product displays by industry, all of which were designed in depth to help purchasing delegations directly assess the capacity, reputation, and potential for long-term cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.

In addition, these activities will help businesses, distribution groups, and foreign investors have more information about the potential supply of goods in Vietnamese industries as well as suitable investment opportunities. This helps open up prospects for signing orders on the spot, as well as building a foundation for long-term strategic supply relationships.
