Guardiola still spends time with his wife for the sake of his children. |
According to Spanish media, Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra are still estranged and will remain so unless something drastic changes. Last month, it was reported that the couple were trying to mend their relationship after Guardiola and his wife spent three days together in Barcelona over the Easter holidays.
It was the second time Guardiola had returned to Barcelona and spent time with Cristina since the couple's split was made public in January 2025. El Nacional reported that after their second meeting, they were willing to give each other a chance and had not given up hope in their marriage.
However, reporters covering Guardiola and his wife's relationship soon dismissed the possibility of a reunion. Lorena Vasquez, one of Spain's most respected reporters, revealed that the couple had begun divorce proceedings amicably for the sake of their children.
On May 7, Lorena's colleague Laura Fa said on the Mamarrazis podcast: "There has been speculation recently about the possibility of a reconciliation because Guardiola was seen at home in Barcelona with his wife and youngest daughter. In fact, they still agree to meet as a family. That's why Guardiola and Cristina went to the theater with their daughter."
"As for the rumours of a reconciliation, we will continue to investigate," Lorena added. "But what we know is that the separation was silent and there was no reconciliation. For Cristina, there was no attempt to reunite. She initiated the separation and sent an ultimatum to Guardiola. We can confirm that they have separated and there is no possibility of a reunion."
The nearly 30-year relationship between Guardiola and Serra was said to have broken down at the end of 2023. When Guardiola extended his contract with Man City for another two years, Serra decided to end the marriage. She believed that he was too focused on his career and did not spend time with his family.
