Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy said that the establishment of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024 - SemiExpo Viet Nam is a proactive step of the Ministry of Planning and Investment - as a strategic advisory agency for socio -economic development to carry out the tasks of the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and the Human Resources Development Program for the Semiconductor Industry, focusing on promoting international cooperation to mobilize resources for the development of the semiconductor industry, connecting investment and business between domestic and foreign enterprises to develop an ecosystem of supporting industries, attracting investment from the world's leading corporations and enterprises in the semiconductor industry.

Vietnam is currently facing the opportunity to participate deeply in the semiconductor industry and has clearly demonstrated its desire to become a link in the global semiconductor supply chain. To effectively take advantage of this opportunity, the Government has established a National Steering Committee for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry, with the Prime Minister as the Head of the Steering Committee and the Minister of Planning and Investment as the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee.

In recent times, the Government and the Prime Minister have had many policies, orientations and directions to take advantage of opportunities and advantages to develop the semiconductor industry, specifically Decision 791/QD-TTg dated August 5, 2024 on the establishment of the National Steering Committee for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry (Steering Committee), in which the Minister of Planning and Investment is the Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Decision No. 1017/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024 on approving the Program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050" developed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment; Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024 on the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Semiconductor Industry to 2030 and a vision to 2050.

Vietnam has been actively cooperating with leading technology corporations in the world to jointly cooperate and invest in developing the semiconductor industry ecosystem in Vietnam as well as developing high-quality human resources for this potential industry.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy believes that this will be a special event, of great significance for the semiconductor industry ecosystem in particular, and for Vietnam's business environment in general. With that spirit, NIC and the Ministry of Planning and Investment hope that the ecosystem's stakeholders will continue to accompany each other on the journey of developing the semiconductor industry ecosystem in particular and the innovation ecosystem in general, contributing to creating a breakthrough in the innovation of the growth model, for the goal of rapid and sustainable development of the country.

According to Ms. Linda Tan, President of SEMI Southeast Asia, SEMI is a global industry association connecting more than 3,000 member companies and 1.5 million professionals worldwide in the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing supply chain. With the mission of promoting sustainable growth and enhancing collaboration among members on solutions to leading industry challenges, promoting business development and innovation of members in design, equipment, materials, services and software, enabling smarter, faster, safer electronics.

At the same time, SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 is an important event for Vietnam as it is an emerging country in the global semiconductor supply chain. With strong government support and a focus on developing a strong semiconductor ecosystem, Vietnam is ready to make a significant contribution to the global supply chain.

Ms. Linda Tan also affirmed SEMI’s commitment to supporting and enhancing Vietnam’s position in the global semiconductor industry; stating that the event serves as a platform for collaboration, innovation and strategic partnerships and SEMI hopes to contribute to promoting the next phase of growth for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and the wider Southeast Asian region.

Introducing the SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 event, Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of NIC, said that SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 is also one of the programs to implement the orientations, directions and tasks assigned to the Ministry of Planning and Investment on developing the ecosystem of the Vietnamese semiconductor industry and promoting the business environment and investment opportunities in Vietnam with global semiconductor partners.

Held for the first time in Vietnam, SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 will attract the participation of major semiconductor technology corporations in the world and Vietnam such as Global Foundries, Amkor, AMD, Lam Research, Coherent, Cadence, KLA, Synopsys, Intel, Marvell, Onsemi Qorvo, FPT ..., expected to attract about 5,000 delegates. That shows that SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 is an important forum for large corporations and enterprises in the world to come and discuss ways to support Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global semiconductor supply and production chain, thereby enhancing Vietnam's position in this field.

In addition, SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 is also an important event, exploring opportunities for businesses in the semiconductor value chain, from assembly and testing, to design and manufacturing of microchips.

By participating in SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024, organizations and enterprises will have the opportunity to promote the business environment, investment opportunities, and develop the semiconductor industry in Vietnam; Connecting investment and business between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign enterprises in the semiconductor field; Updating advanced technology trends in the world in the semiconductor industry, applying AI in microchip design; Participating in dialogue with the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development, the Minister of Planning and Investment and state management agencies to promote the development of the ecosystem and workforce for the semiconductor industry.

In addition, the event will also connect and provide scholarship information for students studying semiconductors; develop talents and human resources for the industry.

Within the framework of the 2-day event, there will be conferences, exhibitions, seminars, business connection programs and industry connection sessions. Accordingly, the following contents will take place: Opening Ceremony of "Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024" and Forum "Elevating Vietnam in the Global Semiconductor Supply Chain"; Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024; Workshop "Global Semiconductor Equipment Market: What Opportunities for Vietnam's Manufacturing Industry"; Forum "Developing the field of design, packaging and testing of microchips in Southeast Asia"; Forum "Global cooperation in human resource development for the semiconductor industry"; Training program for Vietnamese students.
