Hue to welcome first tourists by cruise ship in 2025

NDO - Immediately after docking at Chan May port, the first 4,455 crew members and tourists arriving in Hue city in 2025 on the cruise ship Anthem Of The Seas were warmly welcomed by Hue city leaders and the tourism industry and received souvenirs.

On January 9, Hue City Department of Tourism coordinated with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company and Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited to organize a program to welcome the first cruise ship and tourists to Hue city by sea in 2025.

This is one of the activities to celebrate the New Year and launch a series of tourism events and activities of Hue city in 2025; at the same time, creating an impression for tourists about an attractive, safe, friendly and hospitable destination; continuing to strengthen communication to promote Hue tourism destinations, products and services to attract tourists, especially cruise tourists.

At the welcoming program, leaders of the City People's Committee, Department of Tourism, Tourism Association, People's Committee of Phu Loc district, Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, Hue City Border Guard Command, Chan May Port Border Guard Station, Hue City Maritime Port Authority, Chan May Port Customs Sub-Department, Hue City Economic and Industrial Zone Management Board, Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited and representatives of relevant agencies, departments and branches warmly welcomed, presented flowers and gifts to the first tourists to Hue city by sea in 2025.

Along with that were joyful and bustling lion dance performances to welcome the new year; the leaders of Hue City People's Committee also gave special souvenirs to the Captain and crew.

The cruise ship Anthem Of The Seas, nationality: Bahamas, shipping line: Royal Caribbean carrying 4,455 crew members and tourists from the UK, Australia, America... docked at 7:00 a.m. and left at 8:00 p.m. on January 9.

According to Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited, the company has exploited nearly 2,000 customers who bought tours, will leave the port and visit tourist attractions and enjoy cuisine in Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam in one day. In Hue city alone, the company exploited more than 500 customers to visit famous tourist attractions such as the Imperial City, Tu Duc Tomb, Thien Mu Pagoda, etc.

According to information from Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, in 2024, 41 cruise ships docked at Chan May Port with more than 90,000 passengers and crew members to Hue. Currently, there are 49 cruise ships carrying nearly 10,000 passengers and 39,212 crew members registered to dock at Chan May Port in 2025 as of the current registration date.

According to the Hue City Department of Tourism, in 2024, the tourism industry will welcome nearly 3.9 million visitors, an increase of 21.8% compared to 2023; including nearly 1.45 million international visitors, an increase of 16.6% compared to 2023. The proportion of international tourists accounts for nearly 36% of the total number of tourists to Hue. The main tourist markets come from the following markets: ASEAN, Northeast Asia, Western Europe, North America, Australia. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND 7,900 billion, an increase of 19.6% compared to 2023.

In addition, Hue city received a series of awards and titles from a number of international tourism organizations, magazines, and information channels, contributing to communicating and promoting Hue tourism destinations and products in the region and globally, attracting traditional and potential international tourist markets.

In 2025, Hue city will become a city directly under the Central Government and many major events will be held such as: National Tourism Year, 50th anniversary of Hue liberation... there will be many advantages to develop tourism economy as well as great opportunities to promote the image of Hue tourism.

In particular, focusing on solutions, increasing investment attraction for tourism development with focus and key points, continuing to attract international tourists to Hue, especially cruise tourists.
