(To Quoc) - On December 31, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to hold a press conference to inform about the National Tourism Year 2025 with the theme "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities" and Hue Festival 2025.
According to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is a typical cultural - economic - social and tourism event of national and international scale combined with Hue Festival 2025, associated with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue province (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and responding to and welcoming Hue becoming a city directly under the Central Government.
The organization of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is expected to be a very important boost to help the socio-economy in general and tourism in Thua Thien Hue province in particular flourish, creating conditions to attract resources for investment and development, building new and attractive products, contributing to creating momentum for socio-economic development of the province in 2025 and the following years.

Activities organized within the framework of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will focus on 4 main groups of programs: Spring Festival "Spring of the Ancient Capital"; Summer Festival "Shining Imperial City"; Autumn Festival "Hue in Autumn"; Winter Festival "Winter of Hue" with more than 170 national and provincial events.
Of which, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and central agencies organized 8 national-level activities; Thua Thien Hue province hosted 62 activities (including 46 activities of the National Tourism Year program and 16 activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2025); provinces and centrally-run cities organized 102 response activities.
Activities under the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will be spread throughout the year.
Among the above activities, there will be 4 key activities: The Opening Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" combined with the Fireworks Art Program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Thua Thien Hue province taking place on the evening of March 25, 2025; International Conference on Cultural Industries - the foundation for sustainable tourism development on March 25, 2025; Cultural - Tourism Festival and Program to introduce tourism, cuisine, Vietnamese craft villages, connecting businesses on the occasion of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 in the European market expected in June 2025 and the Closing Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" at the end of December 2025.
In addition, there are activities such as: Promoting National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 at the World Exhibition EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai (Japan) with the theme "Inclusive society with people at the center" from April 25 to May 6, 2025; A series of communication activities, promoting domestic and foreign tourism; International Food Festival; Good Chef Competition, International Conference on Net Zero Tourism expected to be implemented in July - August 2025.
The units signed a cooperation agreement to organize events under the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025.
With a series of activities and events held during the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival in 2025, Hue expects to attract about 4.8 - 5 million tourists, of which international visitors account for about 38 - 40% of total visitors; total revenue from tourism reaches about 10,800 - 11,200 billion VND. At the same time, creating a breakthrough for Hue tourism in 2025, ready to develop strongly on the foundation of the ancient capital with a new opportunity in a new era of the country.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will be organized with continuous activities throughout the year, starting with the Announcement Program of Hue Festival 2025 and the re-enactment of the Lunar New Year's Ceremony on January 1, 2025 and ending with the Countdown Art Program - Welcoming the New Year 2026 on December 31, 2025. The unique activities along with changes in the organization method will certainly bring new experiences to the people and tourists.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, believes that through the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 event, the values and potentials of Thua Thien Hue province's tourism in particular and Vietnam's tourism in general will be converged, promoted and effectively promoted, contributing to realizing the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector.
