To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides, the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control has issued 9 recommendations to people:
Regularly monitor forecasts, warnings and developments of heavy rain, flooding, flash floods and landslides to proactively prevent and avoid them; especially heavy rain occurring at night.
Proactively evacuate from areas at risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides; Pay special attention to unusual signs of flash floods and landslides such as explosions, strange noises, shaking ground, cracks, and cloudy stream water to promptly take response measures to ensure safety of life.
Absolutely do not go through underground tunnels, spillways, bridges, culverts, roads or areas that are deeply flooded, have fast-flowing water, or have roads at risk of flash floods or landslides (signs of water seeping out, rocks and soil falling from the slope onto the road...); do not swim, fish, or collect firewood in rivers or streams during heavy rain or floods.
Proactively stock up and protect food, drinking water, medicine, and necessary supplies to prevent flooding and isolation for many days.
Actively protect aquaculture areas, livestock and poultry farming, and agricultural production.
Raise assets, keep important documents in a safe place, move vehicles to higher ground; proactively cut off power and close gas valves before water rises.
Proactively clear drainage near your home or residential area to create a flood escape route; notify the authorities when there are incidents of clogged drainage or deep flooding; do not park in areas at risk of flooding; be on guard against flooding in apartment basements.
Save emergency phone numbers for use in case of emergency.
Comply with the direction of local authorities.
