Many new features in organizational work
The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run is the most traditional run in the capital, first held in 1974 and has become a familiar name to many generations of Hanoians. This is also one of the key sports activities of Hanoi to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day; 26 years since Hanoi was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a City for Peace .
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Lai Ba Ha said that as an annual tournament, all the organization work was carefully prepared. The launching ceremony of the tournament was held on March 23 at the Ba Kieu Temple flower garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake, combined with the Olympic Running Day for the health of the whole people with the participation of more than 4,000 students, teenagers, the elderly, officials, workers, civil servants, armed forces, laborers and people in the city. The combination of the two events has contributed to creating a vibrant atmosphere of physical training and sports in wards, communes and towns across the city.

Up to now, most of the junior high schools, high schools, universities, colleges, vocational high schools, communes, wards, production facilities and armed forces located in 126 communes and wards have organized grassroots running competitions. The number of participants in the test run exceeded the targets set by districts, towns and cities. The quality of the competition has also been significantly improved. The units have selected athletes, established training teams and registered to participate in the final round of the City-level Running Competition.
The Final Competition will open at 7am on Sunday, September 28, at Ba Kieu Temple and around Hoan Kiem Lake, with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes and officials from communes, wards, universities, colleges, vocational high schools of Hanoi and other provinces and cities; including 250 foreigners who are officials and employees of 20 embassies, international organizations, and international schools studying and working in Hanoi.

The new feature of this year's tournament is that in addition to the amateur and advanced competitions for professional athletes, there will be an additional competition for sponsors with a distance of 1,750m (men) and 1,750m (women). This is an effort by the Organizing Committee to increase the attractiveness of the tournament.
In addition, the Organizing Committee still has software to support athletes to save images when competing on the track, through the number worn through AI software that can be looked up on the fanpage of Hanoi Moi Newspaper. This is also a new step to improve and renew the organization of the tournament.

Prepare actively and carefully
According to Head of the Department of Sports Management (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) Dao Quoc Thang, at this year's final competition, athletes will compete in 12 mass and advanced events, competing for 12 sets of medals. Mass events take place at distances of 1,750m, 3,500m, 5,250m for men and women. Advanced events take place at distances of 5,250m for women and 8,750m for men. The Organizing Committee will award individual prizes to male and female athletes ranked from 1 to 5; team prizes to teams ranked from 1 to 3 in each group. The total prize value is nearly 250,000,000 VND. The Organizing Committee has coordinated with departments, branches and sectors such as: City Police, Department of Health... to make detailed plans, ensuring the best safety for athletes when participating in the competition.

Mr. Dao Quoc Thang added that as a traditional tournament, it attracts a large number of professional athletes to participate. In 2025, there will be a total of nearly 200 professional athletes from 16 provinces, cities, and industries, and 10 universities and colleges across the country registered to participate. Notably, many familiar faces of leading athletes in Vietnam's athletics village will compete, such as: Tran Van Dang (Hanoi), Nguyen Trung Cuong (Ha Tinh), Trinh Quoc Luong (Army) ... Besides, there are also many talented young athletes such as Nguyen Thu Ha (Nam Dinh), Han Thi Bich Thu, Duong Minh Hung (Army), Tran Minh Van (Thai Nguyen), Bui Thu Ha (Thanh Hoa) ... These are all national team athletes who have won gold medals in national and international championships.

Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong said that this year's tournament will have about 200 athletes from 20 units, including foreigners, officials and employees of embassies and international organizations studying and working in Hanoi, participating in the competition, showing that the message of "For Peace" of the tournament is increasingly spreading to many international friends.

Up to now, the preparations for the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run Final have been completed. Currently, departments, branches and localities are continuing to closely coordinate and effectively organize the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run Final - For Peace 2025 to take place on a large scale, solemnly, ensuring accuracy, fairness and the message "For Peace".
