EAEU applies threshold safeguard measures on textiles

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just informed about the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) applying threshold protection measures on Vietnamese textile and garment products.

According to the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has just announced the decision to apply threshold safeguard measures on two groups of Vietnamese textile and garment products exported to the EAEU.

These are two groups of goods with import turnover into the EAEU exceeding the 2024 threshold under the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union.

The two groups of goods include: Women's or girls' clothing, long dresses, skirts according to HS codes with EAEU symbols and some other types of clothing classified according to HS codes with EAEU symbols. The validity period of the threshold safeguard measure is 6 months.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has sent a document to textile and garment industry associations informing them that Vietnamese textile and garment products exported to the EAEU are subject to threshold defense measures to inform member businesses and promptly adjust production and business activities accordingly.
