Hyundai Stargazer 7 seats in Vietnam is as cheap as A class car?

The standard 7-seat Hyundai Stargazer MPV model at Vietnamese dealers suddenly has a deep discount, the selling price is only equivalent to a class A car.

In April 2024, Hyundai Thanh Cong continues to implement the promotion program to reduce prices of Hyundai Stargazer and many VIN 2024 models, with incentives of tens of millions of VND. However, not all car models are eligible for maximum incentives.

Hyundai Stargazer versions have attractive discounts . In Ho Chi Minh City, the Stargazer X Premium VIN 2024 model is being discounted by 54 million VND, the price is reduced from 599 million to 545 million VND.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Stargazer Standard version has only been reduced by 40 million, the price is only 449 million VND, comparable to some A-class cars such as Hyundai Grand i10 (highest 455 million VND). Not only Hyundai Stargazer, many other MPV models are also having big promotions.

Models such as Toyota Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio and Mitsubishi Xpander are supported with 50% of registration fees, while Toyota Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio are also given an additional year of body insurance. The price after incentives of Toyota Veloz Cross ranges from 606 - 627 million VND, still higher than Hyundai Stargazer X.

Hyundai Stargazer X was launched in Vietnam from April 2024 with two variants, identified as a slight upgrade from the regular Stargazer. The car has some exterior changes to increase sportiness but the interior remains almost the same, the main highlight is the electronic handbrake instead of the traditional mechanical brake.

Despite having the best price in the segment and modern equipment such as the ADAS driving assistance system on the Premium version, the Stargazer X has not yet made a breakthrough. One of the main reasons is that the design tends towards MPV, not following the "SUV" style like its competitors.

By the end of 2024, Hyundai Stargazer sold only 4,159 vehicles, ranking 4th in the small MPV segment. The leader is still Mitsubishi Xpander with impressive sales of 19,498 vehicles. Toyota Veloz Cross ranked second with 8,341 vehicles, while Kia Carens held third place with 4,555 vehicles.

It can be seen that the Korean car model has not yet made a strong impression in the segment despite its competitive price. In the future, Hyundai may have to make adjustments to its products and business strategies to increase its appeal to customers.
