Indonesia prepares nearly 2,000 accommodations

Indonesia has deployed the Sinabung ship as a free accommodation to support international media during the 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Labuan Bajo town, East Nusa Tenggara province.

On May 6, Deputy Director General of the Indonesian National Maritime Administration (Pelni) Berryl A Insanul Firdaus said that the Sinabung ship had docked at Labuan Bajo port to prepare for accommodation for press delegations from 11 countries attending the conference, as well as international reporters and journalists who will be working during the week of this important event in the region.

The ship will offer free accommodation from May 7 to 12, with a capacity of more than 1,900 people in a total of 508 rooms. In addition, the ship also has an economy class deck that can accommodate nearly 1,400 passengers.

Mr. Berry said that the Sinabung ship is fully equipped with facilities to ensure reporters work during the conference such as: restaurant, clinic, souvenir area and prayer area. The Sinabung ship is also covered by wifi to support communication and promotion activities at the conference. Currently, 796 people from media agencies have registered to stay on the ship.

Indonesia has prepared 22 hotels and resorts in Labuan Bajo with a total of 1,156 rooms to accommodate the leaders and delegates attending the conference. In addition, the occupancy rate has increased, almost full, not only in star-rated hotels but also in homestays and guesthouses owned by local people.
