The Jerusalem Post quoted an informed source as saying that Iran launched a total of nearly 500 missiles at Israel in the attack on the evening of October 1.

According to Mehr News , Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the country targeted three Israeli military bases around Tel Aviv in its latest missile launch.

"Although the targeted areas were protected by the most advanced and extensive defense systems, 90 percent of the missiles fired hit their targets, causing great fear to the Israeli authorities," the IRGC said.

According to the IRGC, Iran's attack targeted three Israeli military bases: Nevatim, Tel Nof and Hatzerim airports. Nevatim base houses F-35 fighter jets, while Hatzerim base houses F-15 fighter jets.

"Several Israeli air bases and radar centers and central areas were attacked," the IRGC added.

The IRGC confirmed that in this attack, Iran used the Fattah-2 hypersonic missile for the first time to target Israel. The agency affirmed that the raid destroyed many Israeli tanks as well as F-35 fighter jets.

Mehr News reported that Iran used the Fattah hypersonic missile for the first time in an attack on Israel on October 1.

Fattah is considered Iran's first domestically produced hypersonic missile. Iran claims Fattah is "a quantum leap in the missile field".

Iran's military unveiled the weapon last year, saying it could fly 15 times the speed of sound and was capable of "targeting missile defense systems".

Iranian state television said the missile, called Fattah (Conqueror), has a maximum range of 1,400km. Iran claims its missile can penetrate any air defense shield in the region, including US systems and Israel's Iron Dome.

If this information is correct, Iran has become one of the few countries that can successfully develop a powerful missile line that is considered the future of combat operations.

Speed and maneuverability make hypersonic missiles more dangerous to most air defense systems. In addition, the shortened burn time of the rocket engine makes their detection by orbital early warning systems a difficult task.

Weapons experts have analyzed videos shared on social media from the scene of the attack that show variants of Iran's Shahab-3 series ballistic missiles were used in the latest missile attack on Israel.

Trevor Ball, a former US Army explosives technician, told CNN that the debris was consistent with Shahab-3 variants such as the Emad or Ghadr, identifiable from images and videos of the attack.

According to Ball, in one video, debris from a booster rocket can be seen that clearly shows signs of an Emad missile. He added that other missile models such as the Kheibar Shekan or Fattah could also have been used.

The Shahab-3 is the basis for all of Iran's medium-range liquid-fueled ballistic missiles, according to Patrick Senft, research coordinator at the Armament Research Service (ARES). He added that the Shahab-3 is "Iran's first ballistic missile that can reach Israel."

According to both experts, remnants of an Iranian ballistic missile, including its guidance section and warhead, were seen in images and videos taken at the site of the attack. Ball said it was difficult to determine the exact model of the missile due to the lack of reference imagery.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokeswoman Anna Ukolova said the Iranian missile attack did not cause any serious damage to Israel or its air force.
