Isak sets conditions for staying at Newcastle. |
According to talkSPORT , Isak's agent is demanding a salary of £300,000 a week. This is double the current salary (£120,000 a week) that Isak is receiving under a 6-year contract, signed in 2022.
If the request is approved, Isak will become the club's highest-paid player and break Newcastle's current wage structure, with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes the highest earner at St James' Park, on £160,000 a week.
Amid speculation over Isak's future, a fan shared a picture of the striker training alone on social media. The fan wrote: "Isak training alone today, maybe he's on his way to Liverpool."
Previously, coach Eddie Howe explained why Isak did not participate in the friendly match that lost 0-4 to Celtic: "I decided to send him home due to rumors related to his future. Both players Joelinton and Isak are healthy but not ready to play. Alex has trained well but we do not want to take any risks."
Isak has attracted interest from Liverpool, with a reported £125m bid expected to convince Newcastle to let him go. However, the Magpies have insisted that Isak is not for sale, prompting Liverpool to turn their attention to Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in a £80m deal.
