The Israeli army launched a massive raid in Lebanon and confirmed that it had killed Hezbollah spokesman Mohammad Afif.
AFP news agency on November 18 quoted information from the Israeli military saying that this force has attacked more than 200 targets in Lebanon since the morning of November 16, after escalating airstrikes since September targeting Hezbollah forces there.
Over the past 36 hours, Israel has carried out multiple airstrikes on the city of Tyre and the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the death of Hezbollah spokesman Mohammad Afif. Hezbollah had previously said that Afif was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a building in Beirut.

Mr. Afif is in charge of Hezbollah's media relations. The IDF calls him Hezbollah's chief propagandist and spokesman. Mr. Afif joined the force in the 1980s and has great influence over Hezbollah's military operations, according to an IDF statement.
Mr. Afif speaks in front of a portrait of the late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah during a press conference in Beirut on November 11.
Accordingly, Mr. Afif is said to have "contacted senior officials and directly participated in promoting and implementing Hezbollah's terrorist activities against Israel", as well as directing Hezbollah agents to collect images of the scene for propaganda and "psychological terrorism".
In addition, the IDF believes that Mr. Afif also received instructions from senior Hezbollah commanders to take responsibility for a drone attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in the town of Caesarea (Israel) last month.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said Israeli airstrikes in the city of Tyre on November 17 killed 11 people and injured 48.
Lebanon's Education Minister announced on November 17 that schools in Beirut and surrounding areas would be closed for two days, after Israel launched an airstrike on the city center.
