Israel and Iran continue to launch retaliatory attacks on each other...

Early on June 16 (local time), the Israeli military said it attacked surface-to-surface missile launch sites in central Iran, shortly after the Home Front Command of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) asked Israelis to stay close to shelters in anticipation of a possible Iranian missile attack.

Meanwhile, Iran 's Mehr news agency reported that the country's military has begun the fourth phase of its "True Promise 3" operation against Israel. In this campaign, Iran is using "hundreds of ballistic missiles of various types" targeting residential buildings and infrastructure in Israel.

According to Mehr, the attacks were a “decisive response” to Israel ’s military campaign. Iranian officials stressed that they would “respond decisively to any adventurous action” from Israel. According to PressTV, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed to continue attacking the Jewish state until it is “completely destroyed.”

Three people were killed and 74 others were hospitalized after Iran launched a missile attack on buildings in central Israel on the morning of June 16, The Times of Israel reported.

A day earlier, Israel struck dozens of sites deep inside Iran, including energy sites, radar systems, ballistic missiles and launchers, killing top Iranian intelligence officers.

General Mohammad Kazemi - IRGC intelligence chief, and deputy general Hassan Mohaqiq were killed in an Israeli airstrike on June 15.

The IDF also bombed an Iranian refueling plane at Mashhad airport in northeastern Iran, about 2,300km from Israel - the farthest location Israel has attacked since the start of the campaign on June 13.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that over the past 24 hours, the Israeli military has completed the opening of an air corridor to Tehran. “Pilots are flying at great risk, hundreds of kilometers from Israeli territory, accurately hitting hundreds of different targets. At the same time, we are locating and destroying missile launchers that are firing at Israeli territory,” Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said.

In an earlier statement, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said the Israeli Air Force was attacking "Iran's nuclear infrastructure and program in a precise and widespread manner, far beyond what the enemy expected."

There have also been local reports of large-scale sewage and water pipeline explosions across Tehran, believed to be linked to Israeli airstrikes. However, the IDF has yet to comment on the matter.

The IDF said it had completed an "extensive" airstrike in Iran aimed at destroying its weapons production capabilities.
