According to a VNA reporter in Jakarta, at the 14th plenary session on March 28, the DPR unanimously approved the DKJ Law, which determined that "the Jakarta Capital Region (DKI) was changed to the Jakarta Special Region (DKJ)".
DPR (Baleg) Chairman Supratman Andi Agtas said the DKJ Law is consistent with the National Capital City Nusantara (IKN) Law that replaces Jakarta. The DKJ Law consists of 12 chapters and 73 articles that deal with the administrative organization, personnel, and management regulations of the DKJ as well as the Jabodetabek Integrated Zone (which includes satellite cities surrounding Jakarta). The discussion on the Jakarta Special Region Province also reflects the commitment to making Jakarta a world-class special region while maintaining strong economic growth.
Chairman Baleg Supratman announced that the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKJ scheduled for November will still comply with the current regulations on the Election of Heads of Regions (Pilkada).
