Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong presented a souvenir to the new Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam.

The two sides discussed the future cooperation plan between the City People's Committee and JICA Vietnam Office in the field of water environment improvement in Hue City after completing the preliminary survey and some other important contents.

Mr. Kobayashi Yosuke thanked the Hue City government for the solemn welcome; highly appreciated the city government's attention, coordination and active support in implementing projects and activities supported by JICA and affirmed that JICA will continue to promote projects and expand cooperation with Hue City in the coming time. At the same time, he expressed pride in the bilateral cooperation projects that not only contribute to changing the appearance of Hue City but also further strengthen the relationship between Japan and Vietnam.

The new Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam also hopes that the leaders of Hue City will pay attention to resolving the existing problems of the projects, especially phase 2 of the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project. JICA commits to closely coordinate with the city government in resolving the existing problems of the projects as soon as possible to pave the way for new cooperation projects between the two sides in the coming time. At the same time, it is expected that through these cooperation programs, the quality of the urban environment will be improved, contributing to building Hue into a green, clean and sustainably developed city.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong congratulated Mr. Kobayashi Yosuke on his appointment as the new Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office; wished him a successful term and positive contributions to promoting the cooperative relationship between Hue City and Vietnam and Japan. At the same time, he acknowledged and highly appreciated JICA's practical and effective activities and support in the city's socio -economic development in recent times, especially the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project Phase 1. He affirmed that these projects are not only symbols of cooperation but also contribute to changing the appearance of Hue City. The JICA's support is an important factor contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of Hue City in the coming time.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee shared: After receiving the report from JICA consultant, leader Hue City has directed departments, branches and committees. Project Management Based on the research report results of JICA consultants to advise, urgently complete the Project Proposal dossier for phase 2 , Submit to the Ministry of Finance for research, consult with relevant ministries and branches to synthesize and report to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of the Project Proposal according to regulations.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong requested JICA to continue to coordinate to complete the disbursement of the remaining capital of the Water Environment Improvement Project in Hue City; pay attention to investing in the phase after the completion of the preliminary survey of the Project. At the same time, support training and capacity building for Hue University and its member universities to implement disaster prevention training programs according to Japanese models; transfer science and technology in disaster prevention.

Propose to consider the possibility of continuing to provide aid for the Water Environment Treatment Project in the relic area; pay attention to projects to preserve and restore relics, promote Hue cultural values ​​to serve the development of tourism and Hue urban area, especially pay attention to technical support sources to develop art museums in Hue (management, model building, exhibition); consider environmental protection projects such as support for waste classification, collection and treatment. Continue to send JICA volunteers to work to advise and support in tourism development activities, construction, conservation and museum fields.
