"If the team thinks I can add value, I'm ready. I've been preparing for this moment since I retired in 2017," Kaka shared on May 19.
Kaka has 92 caps for Brazil. The former player has taken courses in sports management at Harvard University and completed coaching training at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve the national team,” Kaka added.
The former AC Milan and Real Madrid star has also worked under Ancelotti at both clubs, winning the Champions League together at Milan. Kaka believes this experience will help him integrate easily into Ancelotti's coaching staff.
In addition to inviting Kaka to join the coaching staff, coach Ancelotti also decided to call up experienced veterans such as Neymar and Casemiro in the preliminary training list to prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.
Ancelotti's first two matches as Selecao coach will be in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador (June 6) and Paraguay (June 11). Brazil is currently ranked 4th in the South American World Cup qualifying standings. According to the rules, the top 6 teams in the qualifying round will qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
