Kane hints at Tottenham's lack of ambition

According to striker Harry Kane, Bayern are under pressure to win every game - something that doesn't exist at Tottenham.

This summer, Kane joined Bayern for a total fee of 132 million USD - a record in German football, signing a four-year contract, with a weekly salary of about 525,000 USD - more than double what he received in his final year at Tottenham. The 30-year-old striker had an unsuccessful debut when he came on late in the German Super Cup match against RB Leipzig 0-3, but contributed 3 goals and 1 assist as Bayern won all 3 opening rounds of the Bundesliga.

Despite only being in the new environment for about a month, Kane feels the difference in winning mentality between the two clubs. "It's a different pressure to what I felt at Tottenham," he said at a press conference ahead of England's Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine. "Of course Tottenham want to win, but if you go through a few games without winning it's not a disaster. At Bayern, we have to win every game. That's part of being at one of the top clubs in the world , and that's why I moved to Bayern."

Kane currently holds the record for scoring 280 goals for Tottenham and 58 for England. He is currently second in the Premier League's all-time scoring list with 213 goals, just behind the legendary Alan Shearer's record of 260. But the 30-year-old striker has yet to win a collective title, losing in the 2015 and 2021 League Cup finals and the 2019 Champions League final with Tottenham.

Kane admits he has mixed feelings about seeing his England team-mates win the Premier League and Champions League. "As a player, when they're playing in the Champions League and I'm just sitting at home watching, I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that was hurt," the Bayern star said. "Of course I want them to do well but there's a part of me that wants to have that experience. I'm not sure jealousy is the right word, but it helps me try and push myself towards some of the trophies they've won."

Manager Gareth Southgate believes that Kane winning trophies with Bayern will help England, and the 30-year-old striker agrees. Kane believes that being involved in big games, under pressure to win, going deep in the Champions League, and going through difficult moments will help him gain experience in dealing with pressure in certain situations.

Kane started yesterday at the Miejski Wrocław Stadium but did not score. Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko opened the scoring in the 26th minute, then Kyle Walker scored his first goal for England, sealing a draw in the 41st minute.

With this result, the "Three Lions" continue to lead Group C of the Euro 2024 qualifiers with 13 points after five matches, Ukraine is in second place with seven points from four matches, and Italy is next with four points from three matches.
