The importance of international cooperation

Marvell Vietnam General Director Le Quang Dam affirmed that high-quality human resources are the key factor for the development of the semiconductor industry, not only in Vietnam but also globally.

“Marvell is accelerating its expansion in Vietnam, especially Da Nang , with the goal of turning Vietnam into Marvell’s third largest chip design center, after the US and India. We aim to increase the number of employees to about 500 by 2026,” said Mr. Le Quang Dam.

Marvell is currently developing engineering centers in Vietnam, focusing on advanced microchip technologies such as optical interconnects, storage, and analog and mixed signal semiconductors, which are essential in building modern infrastructure to meet the increasing performance and speed demands of cloud data centers and artificial intelligence (AI).

Marvell Vietnam General Director Le Quang Dam discussed the recruitment and human resource development needs in Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general of Marvell Company.

To realize this goal, Marvell Vietnam General Director Le Quang Dam emphasized the need for cooperation between businesses and training institutions to develop highly qualified human resources capable of competing with international businesses.

One enterprise cannot meet all the needs of training high-quality human resources. Therefore, cooperation between enterprises and training institutions is extremely necessary. Enterprises, with practical experience and deep understanding of the market, can provide training institutions with updated information on human resource needs, thereby helping to adjust the curriculum accordingly. In addition, enterprises can also support by providing internship opportunities and real working environments for students, helping them to access real projects early, thereby practicing skills and improving capacity.

Sharing experiences from Arizona State University (ASU)

Senior Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation - Arizona State University Tran Van Thai shared that ASU's semiconductor training program is designed based on practical experience and the needs of the global industry. Arizona State University is willing to cooperate with partners in Vietnam and Da Nang to develop similar training programs, helping students access the most advanced knowledge and skills.

On that basis, Mr. Tran Van Thai proposed some future cooperation orientations between ASU and its partners in Vietnam, including the development of short-term courses, exchange of lecturers and students, as well as cooperation in research and development of new technologies in the field of semiconductor microchips. This will be a solid foundation for Da Nang to develop human resources to meet the needs of this industry.

Collaboration in research and development of new technologies is one of ASU’s strengths; ASU projects not only enable students and faculty to engage in cutting-edge research activities but also contribute to enhancing Vietnam’s technological capacity in the field of semiconductor microchips.

Readiness of training facilities in Da Nang

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Principal of Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology, Danang University, discussed the readiness of training institutions in Danang in training semiconductor human resources.

“We have fully prepared the facilities, teaching staff and training programs to meet the needs of the semiconductor industry. Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology is currently working closely with international businesses and organizations to ensure that students can work immediately after graduation,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap.

In addition, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Cong Phap emphasized that thanks to the close combination of theory and practice, along with cooperation with businesses, the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology has been building a solid foundation to train highly qualified engineers, ready to contribute to the development of the semiconductor industry not only in Da Nang but also nationwide.

Cooperation with international enterprises brings many great benefits. Foreign enterprises not only act as partners providing modern technology and equipment, but also act as a bridge to help students have the opportunity to work in an international environment, accessing global standards and working processes. This not only improves the quality of training but also helps students feel more confident when entering the international labor market, meeting the strict requirements of the semiconductor industry in the world .
