Quang Ninh owns a large, beautiful sea and island area, attracting millions of tourists every year. Along with investing and developing tourism in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh is connecting the World Natural Wonder with Bai Tu Long Bay and Cat Ba archipelago (Hai Phong City) to expand the tourism space and increase the experience for visitors.
On October 18, at Ha Long International Passenger Port, the Tuan Chau Express high-speed boat operated by Havaco Investment Joint Stock Company tested the route Ha Long (Quang Ninh) - Cat Ba ( Hai Phong City). It is expected that on November 15, the boat will officially go into operation. The boat runs daily, departing from Ha Long International Passenger Port at 7:30 am to Dong Ho Bay (Cat Ba town center, Hai Phong City) at 8:30 am. Then, the boat takes passengers from Dong Ho Bay to Dong Bai Port and returns to Dong Ho Bay. At 3:00 pm on the same day, the boat returns from Dong Ho Bay to Ha Long International Passenger Port. It takes people and tourists only about 1 hour to travel from Ha Long to Cat Ba town center at a price of 250,000 VND/person/trip.
Tuan Chau Express is the first modern high-speed sea passenger transport route to operate, connecting the heritage area of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago. This is a 2-hull high-speed ship with a modern design according to European standards, with a capacity of up to 300 passengers and many entertainment facilities. The ship has a maximum speed of up to 28 nautical miles/hour, high stability, noise resistance, anti-seasickness, can operate in bad weather conditions, wind level 7.
The expressway will help residents and tourists have more interesting experiences, reduce traffic and pressure on ferry routes which are very crowded on weekends; at the same time, strengthen the connection between Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Archipelago after being recognized as a World Natural Heritage.
According to Mr. Phan Van Tung, CEO of Havaco Investment Joint Stock Company, the unit has carefully researched the tourist market before putting the Ha Long - Cat Ba expressway into operation. In particular, it will attract international visitors to Ha Long, through connecting with travel agencies. At the same time, introducing available tourism products in Ha Long Bay to enhance the experience for visitors.
From the high-speed train connecting Ha Long - Cat Ba, the authorities of the two localities are also reviewing and discussing mechanisms and policies to promote advantages and overcome difficulties. In addition, the two provinces and cities have made recommendations to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the Government to have a legal corridor to base on which to build planning, plans, and management regulations of the two sides for inter-provincial heritage. At the same time, they are interested in promotion work, to promote tourism, to promote heritage to the world with potential tourists.
Along with expanding the tourism space of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba, Quang Ninh province also develops new, diverse, unique and highly competitive tourism products, especially high-end resort tourism products associated with Bai Tu Long Bay, Van Don, Co To areas and some islands in the province. From there, increase the ability to reach a variety of tourist streams, build the destination brand "Wonder of 4 seasons". According to the plan, in 2024, Quang Ninh will put into operation 62 new products to serve tourists. Of which, 11 products exploit the advantages of Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Typically, a day as a fisherman in Vung Vieng fishing village, traditional dragon boat racing on Ha Long Bay, restaurant cruise combined with wedding on Ha Long Bay, sightseeing and accommodation tourism products connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay...
In addition, the new tourist route "Heritage Journey" connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay has been put into operation, bringing an attractive experience to tourists. This is currently the only cruise that takes tourists to admire all the famous landmarks of the World Natural Wonder Ha Long Bay, along with pristine areas that have not been exploited for tourism in Bai Tu Long Bay such as outdoor geological parks, semi-mangrove forests, ancient fishing villages and natural coral reefs...
Mr. Nguyen The Hue, Chairman of the Tourism Association, said: In addition to familiar tourist routes and brand positioning such as Minh Chau, Quan Lan, Ban Sen..., many beautiful and potential routes on Bai Tu Long Bay in the islands, Cam Pha islands or Bai Tu Long National Park such as mangrove forests, Cai De cave, Tra Than lagoon, beaches... are ideal materials for popular products. That is also what units and businesses are looking forward to, aiming for to join hands to renew themselves, at the same time creating revenue and brand for Quang Ninh tourism.
In order to soon form tourism products on Bai Tu Long Bay, the People's Committee of Van Don district organized an interdisciplinary team to survey the actual passenger transport route from Ao Tien port through Vanh gate to Co To port and the sightseeing and tourism routes on Bai Tu Long Bay. The team surveyed from Ao Tien port through Tay Hoi island - Lucky Cat Island (Lazy Cat Island) - Ban Sen island - Nha Tro cave, Phat Co cave - Pearl farming area (Black Stone Island) - Hon Park - Lao Vong fishing village - Tra Ngo Lon island - Thien Nga island - Cai De area - Mang Ha overnight anchorage point - Tra Than lagoon (Large Tra Ngo island). Based on the survey of the routes, it is expected that there will be 7 overnight anchorage points. The anchorage areas are announced, invested in safety, such as: Regulations, having floating vehicles for rescue operations, medical care, ensuring security and order... Recently, on October 8, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 43/2024/QD-UBND on promulgating regulations on measures to manage the operation of inland waterway vehicles serving tourists in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. The early construction of new routes, tourism products and management regulations in Bai Tu Long Bay helps to expand the space of sea and island tourism, creating many new, interesting and unique experiences for tourists, enhancing the attractiveness of the sightseeing routes, creating more attraction for sea and island tourism in Quang Ninh.
