This is a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese special effects industry to have more interactions and learn from other countries.
Notably, on June 17, the organizing committee held an extensive, in-depth talk on Vietnam - France VFX Conference 2024 in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. With 3 main parts: experts and visual effects artists interacting; sharing from each French and Vietnamese studio about cases (case studies) in the films they undertook to produce and finally a roundtable - discussing issues of the visual effects industry such as working environment, cultural differences, opportunities and potential of the industry in the current trend.
Mr. Thierry Nguyen, founder of AIOI Studios, shares about the studio and typical projects
The talk brought together founders, CEOs and many film artists from 50 specialized studios. The French Embassy representative was Mr. Jérémy Segay; the Vietnamese delegation included Mr. Le Anh Dy, founder of blankNegatives; Mr. Thierry Nguyen, founder of AIOI Studios; Mr. Dinh Tri Dung, Director of the Academy of Film and Animation Effects. The French delegation included Ms. Amandine Zink, co-founder of Bloc D; Mr. Clément Frechein, visual effects supervisor (VFX Supervisor) at Hecat; Mr. Franck Malmin, Development Director at Reepost...
On June 17, representatives of the studios shared amazing stories in the special effects industry when analyzing and "dissecting" many films, thereby showing that this is an industry that requires a high level of collective work and a lot of investment. The speakers analyzed very deeply and in detail about the techniques and styles of special effects processing, showing related videos for typical cases, which are valuable documents that can be used as references for domestic special effects artists.
During the talk, the issue of using artificial intelligence (AI) to process special effects in filmmaking emerged. AI has helped to upgrade, shorten and significantly improve the process of making special effects for films/advertising products/music videos; however, the application of AI also threatens the jobs of special effects artists.
Besides, experts also recognize that the human resources in the Vietnamese special effects industry are currently very young, which is an advantage for studios because this team is dynamic and open-minded.

On June 18, the Organizing Committee organized a "studio tour" - a visit to studios in the city so that representatives of the French delegation could better understand the working environment and culture in this industry in Vietnam. Some of the studios visited on June 18 were AIOI Studios, Synapse... and the Academy of Cinematography & Animation.
According to the Organizing Committee, this exchange is an opportunity to promote cultural exchange between the special effects industry of the two countries, thereby providing special effects artists with more multi-dimensional perspectives on this industry at home and abroad, while expanding professional connections.
The film special effects industry has witnessed a rapid transformation in recent years as many works have been produced with amazing special effects. Market.us, a website that analyzes and statistics, predicts that in the period 2023 - 2033, the global VFX market will explode, growing from 15 billion USD to 40 billion USD.
