On April 25, some tourists visiting Son Tra Peninsula (Son Tra District, Da Nang City) received notice that some roads were banned to ensure safety when using explosives to break rocks and overcome landslides.
On the same day, speaking with Thanh Nien , Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, said that, in response to the request of the Da Nang City Military Command on the use of explosives to break rocks and overcome landslides on the national defense road on Son Tra Peninsula, the local government and management units have issued a notice prohibiting people and vehicles from going to Son Tra Peninsula from April 24 to April 26.
People and vehicles are prohibited from going to Son Tra peninsula until April 26.
Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, added that the unit is currently deploying 2 checkpoints with staff on duty to implement this prohibition. Specifically, the checkpoints are located on 2 routes from Tien Sa to the golden sand beach and the second route from the Intercontinental resort to the thousand-year-old banyan tree.
"The Management Board is currently deploying checkpoints at the beginning of the route to prevent people and tourists from going up to ensure safety when forces use explosives to break rocks and fix landslides on the national defense road," said Mr. Hai.
Many roads leading to Son Tra peninsula still have landslides that have not been resolved.
According to the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, the historic rain in October 2022 caused serious landslides at some points in Son Tra Peninsula. Many roads leading to Son Tra Mountain were cut off by large rocks blocking the way. Up to now, the authorities have used explosives to break the rocks and overcome the landslides.
