According to Vietnam Railway Corporation, currently the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway route is regularly operating 8 passenger trains per day.

Of these, only 2 trips depart and end at Hanoi station, the remaining 6 trips on weekdays depart and end at Long Bien station; on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays they depart and end at Hanoi station.

According to the company, the number of passengers traveling by train on this route in 2022 and 2023 will increase dramatically compared to the years before the Covid-19 pandemic. Specifically, in 2022, the number of passengers traveling on the route will reach 1.1 million, equal to 114% compared to 2019; In 2023, the number of passengers traveling on the route is expected to reach 1.4 million, equal to 150% compared to 2019. Of which, the number of passengers traveling by train in the Hanoi area accounts for about 80% of the passenger volume on the route, an average of about 3,000 passengers/day.

However, due to the small size of Long Bien station, short railway length, and limited passenger service facilities, it cannot meet the demand.

Therefore, to facilitate passengers traveling on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route, from 00:00 on July 13, Vietnam Railways Corporation will organize trains LP2/3, LP6/5 to depart and end at Hanoi station on all days of the week. On the journey, these trains will still pick up and drop off passengers at Long Bien station.

Specifically, from Hanoi station, train LP3 departs at 9:20, arrives at Long Bien station at 9:27, and departs at Long Bien station at 9:30; train LP5 departs at 15:15, arrives at Long Bien station at 15:23, and departs at Long Bien station at 15:26.

From Hai Phong, train LP2 arrives at Long Bien station at 8:38, departs at Long Bien station at 8:41, arrives at Hanoi station at 8:49; train LP6 arrives at Long Bien station at 11:41, departs at Long Bien station at 11:44, arrives at Hanoi station at 11:52.

Trains accept luggage and motorbikes at stations with stops, convenient for passengers to bring their own means of transportation to experience food tours and other locations.

Regarding ticket prices, they range from 85,000 - 135,000 VND/ticket/trip. However, if there are many passengers, the railway still applies a group ticket purchase policy. Accordingly, when buying train tickets running from Monday to Thursday every week, passengers buying for a group of 8 people only need to pay for 6 tickets and get 2 free tickets; Buying for a group of 4 people, only need to pay for 3 tickets.
