Foreign tourists send 10 million VND envelope with handwritten letter, wishing to support people in Central Vietnam

German architect Andrean, nicknamed Andy, 48 years old, stayed at a hotel in Ha Long ( Quang Ninh province) for 4 days and 3 nights during a business trip in Vietnam.

On November 26, while checking out, the Western guest brought an envelope to the reception desk. Inside was 10 million VND and a handwritten letter.

"He asked us to deliver this gift to the people in the Central region who are affected by natural disasters," Thanh Hai, the hotel owner, told Tri Thuc - Znews.

In the letter, Andy said he had seen many pictures and videos on social media about the devastation caused by the historic floods in Vietnam this year and wanted to contribute a small part to support.

The tourist expressed concern about donating online, so he chose to send cash to the hotel owner to transfer to the victims.

"I love Vietnam. The people here are so friendly and kind, the country is beautiful, the cuisine is perfect. I hope this help can help you in some way," Andy wrote.

Thanh Hai received an envelope of 10 million VND from tourist Andy.

Moved by the visitor's kindness, the hotel owner immediately contacted a rice shop that specializes in selling rice at no profit for charity activities to buy 83 bags of rice, each bag weighing 10 kg.

On the afternoon of November 26, Thanh Hai came to receive rice and handed over the entire 830 kg to the Quang Ninh Green Community, a volunteer unit supporting the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to support the people of the Central region.

The group said it has mobilized about 130 tons of rice, instant noodles, milk and many other essential goods in the past three days.

Green Community representative said this is the first foreign tourist to come support in this campaign.

"When Ms. Hai informed us that a German tourist had donated, we were truly touched. Thanks to Ms. Hai being the one to follow up, the meaningful actions of the tourist reached the people," said the representative.

Thanh Hai said that during Andy's stay, she did not have the opportunity to talk much, nor did she talk about the flood situation in Central Vietnam.

"When he gave me the envelope and the letter, I was really surprised," she said, expressing her gratitude that she did not think a tourist, even a foreigner, "would have such a kind heart."

As an architect, Andy travels frequently to many countries. Last year, he stayed at Thanh Hai's hotel for one night. He said he hopes to return to Vietnam every year "because he loves the people and the beautiful scenery here."

The floods from November 16-22 in the South Central region are considered a rare extreme phenomenon, surpassing historical records. According to the classification of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), this is an event with a very low frequency.

The simultaneous record-breaking floods in 3-5 basins are considered "extremely rare", almost never occurring in more than half a century of monitoring, exceeding "normally calculated flood levels".

In an effort to support the damaged areas, Quang Ninh was assigned to help Lam Dong province overcome the consequences of storms and floods. According to statistics from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, after only 2 days of launching (November 22-24), the total amount of support has exceeded 1.25 billion VND .

In addition, more than 20 people and businesses donated goods such as rice, drinking water, milk and many other necessities, contributing significant resources to the relief work.

The locality has transferred nearly 100 tons of emergency relief goods to Lam Dong. The goods include food, essential food, necessities and medicine.
