People of Binh Duc commune join hands to support people in the Central region affected by storms and floods

Simple hearts but full of love

Since November 24, Ms. Do Thi Thoai Yen, representative of the An Gia Phat volunteer group (Binh Duc commune), has spent almost all her time connecting, mobilizing and receiving support from the people. From small traders, business households, to philanthropists inside and outside the commune, all have turned to the Central region with sincere hearts.

Ms. Thoai Yen and her group have donated more than 12 tons of goods including rice, instant noodles, drinking water, clothes, diapers, medicine and many other necessities, with a total estimated value of more than 400 million VND. In addition, 71 million VND in cash was divided into 710 small gifts, each worth 100,000 VND, to give to people in flood-affected areas.

Goods and medicines were brought by people to help the people of Central Vietnam.

Ms. Huynh Thi Thanh Nha (40 years old, living in Binh Duc commune) is one of the pioneers in this support campaign. Understanding the losses that the people in the Central region are suffering, Ms. Nha has prepared 100 gifts including food and necessities. Ms. Nha shared: "I once had the opportunity to visit the old Phu Yen province, feeling the honesty and kindness of the people there. When I saw their losses after the flood, I felt I had to do something."

Accompanying Ms. Nha was Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, a local watermelon seller. Ms. Ha collected many necessities from her own grocery store, including 10 cartons of mineral water, 15 cartons of milk, 10 cartons of C2 soft drinks and many kinds of cakes.

“I run a small business, but when I see people in need, I try to share within my means. Every year, the Central region is hit by storms and floods. I feel so sorry for them!” - Ms. Ha shared with her eyes full of emotion.

Gift boxes that people collected to send to people in the Central region

Every gift, no matter how small, has great meaning. They are not only practical items but also a message: People in flood-affected areas are not alone, there are still hearts that are looking out for them, sharing and sympathizing in difficult days.

Workers, families and communities join hands

Not only small traders, but also workers far from home actively participate in this activity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, currently living in Binh Duc commune, shared that every time she sees news about the floods in the Central region, she remembers the difficult days her family went through. Therefore, she and her close friend, Ms. Nguyen Thi Truc Mai, from Vinh Long province, who is staying in Ben Luc commune, called on friends and colleagues to join in supporting.

In just a short time, the group of two women raised 13 million VND, used to buy 205 portions of Western medicine including cold medicine, diarrhea medicine, antiseptic medicine, bandages, etc. The medicine portions are small but extremely necessary when many areas are isolated by floods, making it difficult to access medical facilities. Ms. Tuyet Nhung emotionally said: "We are workers, not rich, but if each person contributes a little, it will add up to a lot. We just hope that people will be healthy and soon stabilize their lives."

People personally loaded goods onto trucks to transport to the Central region.

This morning, the spirit of sharing continued to spread when the family of Mrs. Huynh Thanh Thuy (65 years old, residing in Hamlet 6, Binh Duc Commune) sent more valuable gifts to the Central region. Mrs. Thuy prepared goods worth 11 million VND including 50 pairs of men's pants, 100 pairs of women's pants, towels, 15 packs of baby diapers, 50 packs of cakes, 50 rice cakes, 15 boxes of western medicine and 10 boxes of strawberries. Although she is over 60 years old, she still personally sorted each item, hoping that the gifts would reach the people as soon as possible.

In addition, from officials to traders selling vegetables, fish, watermelons, groceries, etc., also contributed to providing other necessities, lighting up the spirit of "mutual love" which has become a widespread beauty. Although conditions are not abundant, they are always willing to share, because "the Central region is so miserable, any help is a joy".

Ms. Do Thi Thoai Yen, representative of An Gia Phat volunteer group (Binh Duc commune) confirmed that all goods and cash are being packaged and transported, expected to reach people in flood-affected areas in the coming days. "All support activities are public, transparent and implemented quickly, promptly, and in the right places where help is needed" - Ms. Yen said.

Donated goods are gathered at the warehouse to be shipped to the Central region.

Mr. Nguyen Le Duy (residing in Binh Duc commune), an active member of the volunteer group, shared that in addition to material value, the gifts also contain great spiritual value, which is solidarity and humanity in times of hardship. Small vendors, ordinary workers, families living simply but willing to share have created a source of positive energy spreading throughout the community.

In times of hardship, human love shines brighter. And it is this solidarity that is becoming the driving force for the people of Central Vietnam to have more confidence in overcoming natural disasters and quickly stabilizing their lives after the storm and flood.
