Vietnamese fruits have the advantage of being special, having different seasons and can expand consumption not only in China but also in the domestic market.
That was the affirmation of Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang at a working session with two large Chinese enterprises in the field of fruit and waste treatment on the afternoon of November 27.
Building a fruit chain between Vietnam and China
At the meeting with Tran Thi Vegetable and Fruit Trading Company, Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai, the company representative, said that the company was established in 1992 and has been involved in the Vietnamese market since its early years of operation, starting with white-fleshed dragon fruit. Tran Thi is currently the leading fruit distributor in China, connecting with supermarket systems and supply chains nationwide. In addition to doing business in Vietnam and Thailand, the company also invests in several South American countries.
Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai assessed that the amount of Vietnamese fruit exported to China is increasing rapidly, many of which have advantages in terms of seasonality, quality and flavor. Previously, businesses mainly rented processing facilities in Vietnam, but now they want to build an independent supply chain in Vietnam, work directly with farmers, and produce according to Chinese Customs standards.
“In the future, we identify Vietnam as one of the most important partners. Vietnamese fruits have distinct characteristics and large consumption output. Tran Thi wants to build a deep linkage chain in Vietnam, from production to distribution,” Ms. Mai emphasized.

According to the enterprise, when the linkage chain is formed, it not only ensures business efficiency but also contributes to increasing farmers' income, creating sustainable value for Vietnamese fruit exports.
Listening to the proposal from Tran Thi, Minister Tran Duc Thang highly appreciated the cooperation idea, especially in the context of Vietnam's fruit export turnover to China reaching 6-7 billion USD each year. The Minister emphasized that the advantages of climate and soil help Vietnam have many types of specialty fruits, with different seasonal characteristics compared to other countries in the region.
The Minister expressed support for Chinese enterprises to invest in the supply chain in Vietnam, and suggested the possibility of consuming products not only in the Chinese market but also in Vietnam and third countries. The Minister also informed about some preferential mechanisms for enterprises investing in industrial zones and clusters; and recommended that Tran Thi study the joint venture model with Vietnamese enterprises to facilitate the implementation process.
On behalf of the Ministry, Minister Tran Duc Thang introduced the enterprise to work with Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection Huynh Tan Dat to exchange expertise and promote specific investment plans.
Potential for cooperation in the field of waste energy
On the same day, Minister Tran Duc Thang worked with Quan Tin Joint Stock Company - China's leading enterprise in waste treatment and waste-to-energy. Company leader Dai Dao Quoc said that Quan Tin currently owns many waste treatment and waste-to-energy plants in China and some Central Asian countries, with more than 3,000 employees, strong financial capacity and core technology.
Regarding investment plans in Vietnam, Quan Tin assessed that Vietnam's preferential policies are attractive, especially in the field of waste energy - a rapidly expanding segment. The enterprise wishes to build a waste power plant and waste recycling plant, and at the same time produce components for the waste power industry, meeting domestic demand and exporting to Southeast Asia and Africa.

Minister Tran Duc Thang's working trip with two large Chinese enterprises shows that the potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture and environment is still very open.
Mr. Doi Dao Quoc said that Quan Tin's goal is to bring experienced core technology to Vietnam, develop a closed waste production-treatment chain, create profits for businesses, create jobs for workers and contribute to sustainable pollution treatment.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Tran Duc Thang said that waste-to-energy treatment is a potential investment direction in Vietnam, where about 100,000 tons of waste are generated every day but only about 30% of it is processed. In particular, in the field of manufacturing components for waste-to-energy technology, there is no domestic unit implementing it, so the opportunity for cooperation is even greater. However, the Minister noted that businesses need to carefully research the market and technology compatibility before investing.
At the end of the working session, the Minister introduced the business to connect with Director of the Department of Environment Hoang Van Thuc to discuss in depth about techniques, processes and cooperation orientations.
Minister Tran Duc Thang's working visit with two large Chinese enterprises shows that the potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture and the environment is still very open. Promoting the development of fruit chains and researching investment in waste-to-energy technology is expected to create new resources for the development of green agriculture and the circular economy in Vietnam.
