Passionate about traveling , Mr. Hoang Phung Hieu (39 years old, living in Hanoi) "spent his youth" conquering all 7 continents with a journey through nearly 90 countries and territories. Among them, there are places he visited many times without getting bored such as Antarctica and South America.
In South America, Mr. Hieu was most impressed with a 14-day trip at the end of 2023, through two countries, Ecuador and Peru. On this trip, he spent 3 days living in the Amazon forest - the largest rainforest in the world .
This is also a memorable destination for him because he completed his goal of setting foot in the 7 new natural wonders of the world voted by New 7 Wonders.
Previously, he conquered the remaining 6 wonders: Ha Long Bay (Vietnam), Jeju Island (Korea), Iguazu Falls (Brazil and Argentina), Table Mountain (South Africa), Komodo Island (Indonesia) and Puerto Princesa Underground River (Philippines).
Mr. Hieu commented that the Amazon forest and river system is "similar to Vietnam" because they share the same ecosystem of rainforests. However, the Amazon is much larger and more majestic.
The Amazon forest covers an area spanning the territories of 9 South American countries such as Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia... In which, the Amazon region that Mr. Hieu visited is located in Peru.
He said that the journey from Vietnam to here took a lot of time (nearly 30 hours of flight), transiting 2-3 places, but in return he was able to admire the majestic, surreal landscape and "pocket" "one-of-a-kind" experiences.
According to Mr. Hieu, one of the highlights that attracts tourists in the Amazon forest is the hotels located in trees with a height of 10 - 23m.
The hotel he stayed at is considered one of the 10 most unique tree houses on the planet, located next to the Amazon River with 12 beautifully designed bungalows.
To access this area, visitors can only travel by motorboat.
Here, each tree house is built with a diameter of 5m, has fences, curtains around to prevent insects and a system of vines and wooden stairs for guests to climb up.
The rooms are connected by a wooden suspension bridge system, far enough apart to ensure privacy. The price of each room here starts from over 16 million VND/night.
From these tree houses, visitors can also see many species of monkeys and macaws.
Mr. Hieu was very impressed with the way the tree house was built "following nature". Instead of cutting down trees in the forest to make room for the house, the rooms were arranged at a height of several dozen meters so as not to damage the tree trunks.
“They transported wood from other regions to build the tree house. The joints to hold the house are also made of wood and carefully researched so as not to affect the growth and development of the trees,” said Mr. Hieu.
He said the hotel owner is an American businessman. Every year, this man comes to the hotel 1-2 times with a team of experts and architects to maintain the houses.
During his stay here, Mr. Hieu also participated in unique and adventurous discovery tours organized by the hotel.
These include anaconda sightings, caiman hunting, and piranha fishing. These are three animals known as “killers” in the Amazon rainforest.
He rated the tours as safe and always accompanied by local guides. While searching for caimans, he also got to admire the starry night sky or enjoy piranha caught by the boatman on the same boat.
