On the afternoon of January 13, the 18th Vietnamese Tet Festival 2025 organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House opened in a bustling and exciting atmosphere.
The highlight of the 2025 Vietnamese Tet Festival is the "Spring house" built to simulate the image of a stilt house in An Giang , with a kitchen and garden full of spring flowers and grass, bringing a peaceful atmosphere to Tet days.
The house is 14m wide, connected to the kitchen which is about 20m long and 12m deep. The house is located in the center and is also the stage for performing art forms throughout the festival, creating closeness between artists and audiences.
Besides the familiar images of the traditional Vietnamese New Year such as calligraphy street, apricot garden, apricot road, this year's Festival has many innovations in the design of the scenery and space.
In particular, the space on Pham Ngoc Thach Street is decorated with apricot blossoms combined with 5,000 red-painted bamboo trees. This space not only represents the traditional colors of Tet but also symbolizes the resilience and perseverance of the Vietnamese people, affirming their rise in the era of rising with the country.
The festival also has exhibition spaces recreating traditional craft villages such as Lai Thieu pottery village ( Binh Duong province), Dinh Yen mat village (Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province), My An weaving village (Cho Moi district, An Giang province).
In addition, the Organizing Committee chose to introduce to the public three typical art forms of the three regions: Ca Tru, Hue royal court music and Don Ca Tai Tu; at the same time, an additional stage was arranged for young bands to perform acoustically to add a youthful and vibrant spring atmosphere.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House, said that after 18 years of continuous organization, the Vietnamese Tet Festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of people to enjoy, take souvenir photos and participate in traditional cultural and artistic activities during the traditional Tet holiday.
Continuing that meaningful journey, the Vietnamese Tet At Ty 2025 Festival is organized with many Tet celebration activities imbued with national cultural identity to spread traditional cultural values and spirit. This will be a vibrant, lively cultural space that evokes many warm emotions, so that everyone can express their love to family and friends during the transition period from the old year to the new year.
The festival also creates a unique cultural mark of Ho Chi Minh City when Spring comes; is an opportunity to promote the image, people, and cultural beauty of a modern city, while contributing more energy and motivation to the city before a new journey.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc also called on people to wear Ao Dai when coming to the Vietnamese Tet Festival because this is not only a beautiful image for people every time Tet comes, Spring comes but also an activity to spread love and pride for the homeland and country.
At the opening ceremony, many people wore Ao Dai to the Youth Cultural House to visit, have fun and record beautiful moments during Tet.
Pham Tran Gia Han (19 years old, student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics) excitedly shared: “Every year, I take the opportunity to come here with my friends to participate in Tet activities. I am very impressed with the cultural spaces of the Festival along with the diverse food stalls. At each stall, I have the opportunity to learn more about the unique cultural customs of the three regions."
The 2025 Vietnamese Tet Festival will be open to visitors at the Youth Cultural House until February 2 (the 5th day of Tet). According to the Organizing Committee, in 2024, the Vietnamese Tet Festival will attract nearly 200,000 people to participate in activities, sightsee, and take photos.
