The Miss Vietnam 2024 contest continues to cause a stir when the Organizing Committee receives a number of complaints and denunciations related to the contestants. Notably, some of the contents not only reflect on the individual but also indirectly question the transparency and impartiality of the Organizing Committee and the Jury.

The petitions were sent in both official and anonymous forms. Although they did not specifically reveal which candidates were accused or the details, the suspicions about the possibility of “matching the results” caused a stir among the public.

In response to the suspicion, the Miss Vietnam Organizing Committee emphasized: "During 37 years with 18 editions, Miss Vietnam is a noble title, a prestigious brand. To achieve that, fairness and transparency are always put first. The contest has no room for fixing results."

Regarding denunciations, the Organizing Committee commits to seriously consider them in accordance with the provisions of law, including the Law on Denunciation, Decree 144/2020/ND-CP on performing arts activities, and guiding documents, the Project and Competition Rules licensed by State agencies.

Even with accusations that do not fully meet the required conditions, the Organizing Committee still said it is verifying verifiable content, with a spirit of openness and maximum caution.

To ensure a transparent and objective process, the Organizing Committee also regularly consults law firms in the process of receiving and handling petitions. “All of this is to ensure fairness for all contestants and protect the long-term reputation of the Miss Vietnam contest,” said a representative of the Organizing Committee.

Regarding the information circulating on social networks, the Organizing Committee affirms that up to now, all application documents, personal records, anthropometric results, as well as the study and work processes of the candidates have fully met the conditions according to the Contest Rules and related regulations.

“Throughout the participation process, the contestants strictly complied with the contest regulations and the provisions of Decree 144/2020/ND-CP. The Organizing Committee is always ready to listen to and receive comments and feedback from the public to ensure that the contest is organized transparently, objectively and inspires positive feelings about beauty, intelligence and compassion to the community,” the representative of the Organizing Committee shared.

Previously, the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest also faced backlash when contestant Vo Thi Thanh Binh caused heated controversy with her dance performance in the courtyard of Thai Hoa Palace - Hue Imperial City.

The clip recording the performance spread on social media met with strong reactions from the online community, cultural researchers and Hue people. In particular, the act of climbing on the tea table - a place symbolizing the ancient court space - was considered offensive behavior, lacking understanding of the ritual and the solemnity of the special national relic.

The Miss Vietnam Organizing Committee has apologized and accepted responsibility. They also quickly worked with the production unit, contestants and related parties to review the entire implementation process, and pledged to learn from the experience.

Contestant Vo Thi Thanh Binh also spoke up to admit her mistake, saying that this mistake was a valuable lesson for her to reflect on and learn from.
