Opening of the ancient Tet festival and gift market in Hoa Lu Ancient Town

On the evening of January 19, at Thuy Dinh stage (Hoa Lu Ancient Town - Ninh Binh city), the Department of Tourism coordinated with Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise and the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association to organize the opening ceremony of the Old Tet festival and the 2024 gift market.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Hoang Thanh Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee; Mai Van Tuat, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Also attending were Mr. Jonathan Baker, Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam; comrade Tran Song Tung, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors, unions, and the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association.

The Old Tet Festival and Gift Market were held for the first time in Hoa Lu Ancient Town with 80 booths displaying and selling food , drinks, Tet flowers, handicrafts, decorations, gift products, souvenirs and OCOP products of Ninh Binh province.

Coming here, visitors will be able to shop, visit, and experience many meaningful activities such as: wrapping banh chung, playing folk games, attending talk shows shared by vendors, and checking in with a colorful space imbued with the flavor of Tet.

At the opening ceremony, delegates cut the ribbon to open the festival and honored businesses that actively contributed to organizing the event. Afterwards, delegates, a large number of people and tourists visited the booths and experienced the ancient Tet atmosphere in Hoa Lu Ancient Town.

The re-enactment of the old Tet space gives visitors the opportunity to experience and reminisce about the Tet days imbued with national identity. Thereby, it arouses pride and raises the sense of responsibility of all classes of people, especially the young generation, in preserving and spreading the good traditional cultural values of their ancestors.

Through this activity, we aim to create opportunities for connection, introduction, exchange, and business cooperation between businesses inside and outside the province, promoting the development of gift and souvenir products to serve tourists, ensuring quality, professionalism, uniqueness, and bearing the local identity of the ancient capital.

The program will take place from January 19 to February 14, 2024 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year). This is the opening event of a series of events celebrating the 10th anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
