In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasized: The Cheo Festival is a special art event to honor, preserve and promote the value of a unique national theatrical form - Cheo art. Through many historical ups and downs, Cheo art still retains its unique features, deeply reflecting the soul, character and aspiration for truth, goodness and beauty of the Vietnamese people.
The National Cheo Festival is a periodic professional art activity organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , aiming to evaluate artistic creation, performance, preservation and promotion of the value of Cheo art in the current period.
This is also an opportunity for art units to meet, exchange experiences, learn from each other, thereby improving professional quality and bringing Cheo art closer to the public.

This year, the Festival gathered the participation of 12 professional art units from many provinces and cities across the country, with 21 elaborately staged plays and the participation of nearly 1,000 professional artists and actors, clearly demonstrating the dedication and endless creativity of the team of artists, directors, musicians, painters, and stage technicians.
At 9:30 and 20:00 from October 20 to November 2, at the Bac Ninh Provincial Cultural and Exhibition Center ( Bac Giang Ward), art troupes participating in the Festival will perform 21 unique Cheo plays praising the people, traditional history, and homeland; arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy Vietnam.

Of which, Ninh Binh Traditional Arts Theatre brings 4 plays; Hung Yen Provincial Cheo Theatre participates in 3 plays; Vietnam National Traditional Stage Theatre; Army Cheo Theatre, Hanoi Cheo Theatre, Bac Ninh... each bring 2 plays.
In particular, this Festival is the first professional cultural and performing arts event held after the country implemented the 2-level local government model, marking a turning point in the organization, management and development of cultural and artistic activities in the new context. This further enhances the significance of the Festival, demonstrating the determination to innovate, adapt and integrate the culture, sports and tourism industry in the country's development process.

The Cheo Festival is even more meaningful when the Politburo and the Government are assigning the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and advise on building a specialized Resolution on reviving and developing Vietnamese culture in the new period.
The development of this thematic Resolution not only aims to reposition the role of culture in overall national development, but also open up specific mechanisms and policies to support, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, including Cheo art and other forms of national theatrical art, so that culture truly becomes a soft power, spreading in social life and the souls of Vietnamese people.
