On the evening of November 3, in Lai Chau City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Lai Chau Province held the opening ceremony of the Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000, from 11 provinces and cities across the country.

The festival is an event of profound political , cultural and social significance, aiming to honor the good traditional cultural values, preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. The activities contribute to building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, creating momentum for socio-economic development in localities.
The festival also demonstrates the Party and State's concern for preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities.
