Opening of Vietnamese Film Week in Thessaloniki, Greece

Within the framework of Film Week, 7 films and documentaries were screened in Thessaloniki city in particular and Central Macedonia, Greece in general.

Following the Vietnam Film Week in Athens on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Greece diplomatic relations, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, on the evening of May 16, the Vietnam Film Week in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, officially opened.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Pella region, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Edessa city, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Pella region, along with representatives of the city, the diplomatic corps in Thessaloniki, friends of Vietnam and local people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Thi Thu Huong said that within the framework of the Film Week from May 16-20, 7 films and documentaries were brought to the public in Thessaloniki city in particular and the Central Macedonia region, Greece in general.

Many films screened during the Film Week have won national and international awards, reflecting the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam. The feature film “Dao, Pho, Piano” was selected to be screened on the opening night, leaving many emotions in the audience.

The first time Vietnam organized a Film Week in Thessaloniki city, the capital of Central Macedonia, the second largest region of Greece, helped Greek audiences and international friends understand more deeply about Vietnamese cinema, rich in national cultural identity, carrying the spirit of the times and profound human values.

Following Thessaloniki, the Pella region government and the city of Edessa wish to organize the Vietnamese Film Week here.
