

On the evening of November 25, at the National Cinema Center, the European Film Festival in Vietnam 2025 (EUFF 2025) introduced to the public a special screening of the film Sentimental Value by Norwegian director Joachim Trier.
This is the latest work of the famous filmmaker, highly appreciated for its emotional depth and subtle storytelling style.
Attending the event were Mr. Rafael de Bustamante, Charge d'Affaires of the European Union to Vietnam; Ms. Hilde Solbakken, Ambassador of Norway to Vietnam; Mr. Antoine Ripoll, Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to ASEAN (representing the LUX Audience Award), along with representatives of diplomatic agencies, cultural organizations, filmmakers, students and a large audience in the capital.
In his opening speech, Mr. Rafael de Bustamante emphasized that the Film Festival is an opportunity to introduce the diversity and creativity of contemporary European cinema, while affirming the spirit of cooperation between the European Union and Vietnam in the cultural field.
Expressing her joy at the event, Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken said: “I am delighted to be here with you to enjoy a touching Norwegian story on the big screen, on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Norway and Vietnam.
In this context, Sentimental Value takes on a special meaning. The film tells the story of connections between generations, between people and between cultures, the relationships that give meaning to each of our lives.
In recent years, the Norwegian film industry has grown strongly and has been internationally recognized for its emotional storytelling style, deeply exploring social issues and spiritual life.
Joachim Trier is considered one of the most prominent directors of Norwegian cinema, with his ability to blend psychological depth and subtle humor.
The film tells a story of family, reconciliation and the journey to rediscover the important things in life. It was well received by European audiences, further cementing Joachim Trier's position as one of the leading voices of contemporary European cinema.
The European Film Festival in Vietnam 2025 celebrates the diversity and innovation of regional cinema. For the first time, the EUFF will collaborate with the LUX Audience Award (an initiative of the European Parliament and the European Film Academy) and the 2026 European Film Awards Season to showcase outstanding works, highlighting the growing trend of international co-productions in the film industry.
The screening in Hanoi follows the success of the premiere in Ho Chi Minh City on November 22, attracting a large number of cinema lovers and cultural partners.
The European Film Festival 2025 takes place from November 20 to December 6 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, bringing Vietnamese audiences a journey to discover Europe's unique cultural values and artistic creations.
