At the scene, authorities mobilized sandbags, bamboo stakes, and heavy machinery to reinforce the area urgently, temporarily ensuring safe passage for residents.
Mr. Hoang Van Minh Chau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dien commune, said: "This is only a temporary solution to limit landslides during the rainy season. In the long term, the commune requests the city of Hue to soon allocate funds to build a solid embankment at vulnerable sections along the Bo River to ensure the stability of people's lives."
The People's Committee of Quang Dien commune has submitted a proposal to the People's Committee of Hue City, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Department of Finance requesting attention and support in terms of funding to promptly address landslides and subsidence, helping people stabilize their lives and travel safely.
In recent years, it has been observed that in the lower reaches of the Bo River, many vulnerable sections of dikes and riverbanks have experienced serious erosion, especially in the villages of Niem Pho, Pho Nam A, Phuoc Yen, and Tan Xuan Lai… In early September 2025, two new erosion points appeared in the section passing through Niem Pho village, encroaching deeply into the concrete road and close to residential houses. One of these erosion points is approximately 120 meters long and extends about 1.2 meters into the road surface.
Currently, along with reinforcement work, the commune authorities have cordoned off the dangerous area, erected warning signs, rerouted traffic, and prohibited cars and heavy vehicles from passing through. According to preliminary calculations, building a solid embankment system to prevent landslides and subsidence along the Bo River will require tens of billions of VND in funding.
