On September 1, information from the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said that Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of the province, sent a document to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee on the urban development orientation policy to serve the work of establishing the Urban Development Program to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee agreed with the proposal of the Department of Construction and the consulting unit to upgrade Cam Ranh City and Cam Lam District into two districts.

Specifically, Khanh Hoa province retains 9 district-level administrative units including Nha Trang city; establishes 2 districts Cam Ranh and Cam Lam based on the population and area of ​​Cam Ranh city and Cam Lam district.

This province will have 3 towns including Ninh Hoa town; Dien Khanh and Van Ninh towns will be established based on the population and area of ​​these 2 districts. The remaining 3 districts are Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh and Truong Sa.

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee reports and asks for opinions from the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee for consideration and reports to the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Standing Committee for decision.

Along with that are 2 cities including Cam Ranh and Cam Lam; 3 towns: Ninh Hoa, Dien Khanh and Van Ninh; 3 districts: Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh and Truong Sa.

However, after considering the pros and cons of the two options, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee chose to have 9 district-level administrative units including Nha Trang City, 2 districts of Cam Ranh and Cam Lam, 3 towns and 3 districts.
