On the afternoon of July 29, Comrade Chau Van Hoa - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee led the delegation to survey the situation of dike erosion in Luu Nghiep Anh commune.

The landslide was recorded as a result of prolonged heavy rain combined with strong tides creating strong currents and whirlpools, causing landslides and breaking the Nam Rach Tra Cu embankment (Long Hung hamlet), a 15m long section at Mr. Phan Van Day's land, causing damage to 16 hectares of fruit trees and aquaculture ponds, estimated damage of about 12 billion VND, affecting the lives of 27 households.

The Bac Rach embankment collapsed a section of about 40m long, completely damaging a fish and shrimp pond with an area of 0.3ha. If not reinforced in time, it will break further and risk affecting 81ha of sugarcane and aquaculture land, perennial crop land and 32 houses (128 people).

After a field survey, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Chau Van Hoa directed relevant departments and branches to coordinate with localities to urgently assess the level of landslides and propose timely solutions to ensure safety for people.

For the Bac Rach embankment project, in the immediate future, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Irrigation Sub-Department will coordinate with the locality to review the prescribed criteria to declare an emergency landslide situation; if the conditions for declaration are met, the province's reserve funds will be allocated to promptly remedy the situation. Continue to closely monitor the developments of the Nam Rach Tra Cu embankment and promptly carry out procedures to allocate the Disaster Prevention Fund to reinforce the project, helping people feel secure in production and daily life.
